We are truly DESTINED FOR THE THRONE!!!,
By Godanswers@aol.com (Chattanooga, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destined for the Throne (Paperback)
If I could read only one book besides the Bible, this would be it. This book lays a foundation for our faith, victory, and our walk with the Lord. Unlike anything I have ever read before. The understanding he portrays of what God, Christ, Satan, the Bride, prayer and praise all mean to us will change your life. We will not have to walk in defeat, depression, or despair ever again, if we can get the message of this book into our spirit. My review could never do this wonderful work justice. Read it for yourself, you will be highly blessed.

Finally! - purpose in prayer beyond ourselves! Billiheimer's book will stand along side those other great classics on prayer written by the likes of Andrew Murray, E.M. Bounds, and Norman Grubb. For individual devotion or congregational study, this book will challenge typical Christian thinking, enlarge small worldviews and propel the believer into enthusiastic and faithfilled intercession.

The most extraordinary book I've ever read outside the Bible. It has passed Thomas A. Kempis' "Imitation of Christ" and Oswald Chambers' "My Utmost For His Highest" on my list. It is so 'meaty', you cannot just read it through, but must pray over every section til it becomes a part of you. Simply lifesaving! Wonderful!

MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW,
This review is from: Destined for the Throne (Paperback)
To me, this is a must teaching book for all serious Christians. A book on prayer, spiritual warfare and exercising our faith in a God who loves us.For Christians, the ultimate goal is to be the Bride of Christ. To do this, as with all those who are awaiting their bridegroom, we must prepare ourselves. This book helps you to do that, teaching in a clear understanding way, what is required of Jesus' church, His bride and how to obtain that goal. This book Highly recommended! A must read for Christians that take their walk serious!

I am greatly impressed with this author and his insight into the word of GOD. I feel this is an extremely important book for the Body of Christ. The author through voluminous scripture and passion writes of the necessity of the Bride of Christ to take up the mantel given to us by JESUS to be JESUS on earth. The author paints an incredible picture of the Father waiting for the Church to take the authority she rightly has to Ask so as to be given and to put the Devil to flight. This book may have one flaw and that might be(I say this because I do not know the authors mindset) and that is Christ suffering in Hell and suffering spiritual death. With this said it is not the salient of the book. The other points and underlying theme of the book are undoubtably Truth and need to be heeded by the Bride of Christ if we are to make an impact on this world for JESUS. Much more can be said of this book but BUY it should suffice. GOD bless and be blessed. JB

This is one of the books that will inspire and challenge a life. I was able to understand why the enemy doesn't want people to pray.
It is almost unbelievable, but the author authentically demonstarated from the Scripture the heritage we have with God--a heritage that not even the angels have. No wonder the fallen angels are resolved to sabotage this heritage. This book is a must read for every Christian, especially because prayer is not optional. And how beneficial it is to know why we can't afford prayerlessness!

This review is from: Destined for the Throne: How Spiritual Warfare Prepares the Bride of Christ for Her Eternal Destiny (Paperback)
In the preface of the book the author states, "The author feels that many of the insights were given him by the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit through the Word." ...to this I could not agree more. Outside of the Bible, this was one of the most enlightening books (if not the most) I have ever read concerning SO MANY vital aspects of a Christian's walk with God. In a nutshell, the author shows the significance of Christians as the Bride of Christ and the victory that they and/or the church have been given over the enemy due to Jesus' death and resurrection. As well, he vividly and Biblically shows the power of prayer and praise in ways I had never considered. There are so many "gold nuggets" in this book!! I really can't say enough about it. It is very deep and PROFOUND but yet easy to understand. You must read it and I am confident you WILL be changed.

Purpose of my life,
By petushkov@familyradio.com (Hayward, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destined for the Throne (Paperback)
There was time when I was bothered with a question: " What was a goal of my life?" I've loved Jesus Christ, served Him, and wanted Him to come. Was it a goal for Christians? I asked a lot of Christians, seemed they were satisfied with it. I wasn't: something was missing, something which was very important. Then one brother gave me this book. O, yes!!! It has been my destiny to be an overcomer! Destined for the throne! How could I compare temporary suffering with the everlasting glory? Yes! Live for Jesus to be with Him! To be like Him! Praise the Lord, Halleluya!

This is a very interesting book full of great views that will challenge your views regarding yourslef as a child of God, the role of "The Church" and God's purpose for us all. I have enjoyed reading this book, which I am still reading. Give yourself time and a quiet place to read and re-read and digest the information, I would also suggest have your bible available to look up scriptures so you can research and study. Whether you are a new christain or "seasoned" christian this book is for you, becasue it will get you thinking about what really is the purpose and the point of prayer and the power behind it. If you want to read something that isn't old hat or if you are needing to find something to stir you up and get you praying this book is it...

At 134 pages, Destined for the Throne is not a big book. But it took me nine months to read it, because what it lacks in length it more than makes up for in depth and power.
I came across Destined while review-hopping at Amazon. When I finally got around to reading the book I had forgotten why I had bought it. But it didn't take me long to remember. Billy Graham forewords the book by saying that "every" Christian looking for a deeper witness should study this book prayerfully and apply its principles. And Billheimer himself introduces the book as what some will consider a "totally new and unique cosmology". I've got to say that most of what Billheimer has written is not new to me at some level, but never have I seen it stated so clearly and powerfully. He puts his case together so thoughtfully, logically and circumspectly that the book's immediately huge impact only grows as one continues to read. Basically, Billheimer's thesis is that "the primary purpose of the universe... is the production and preparation of an Eternal Companion for the Son", and that "since she is to share the throne of the universe with her Divine Lover and Lord... she must be trained... for that role". The ramifications of this understanding are astonishing. If the thesis is true, then all our experiences must be viewed through its lens. Trials and sorrows aren't merely to be somehow borne with otherworldly patience, hoping for some vague reward in heaven. Rather, they are to be spiritually assayed according to how they can be used to conform us in Christlikeness and prepare us for our heavenly dominion as kings. I found Billheimer's angelology amazing. I know that because of the incarnation, man in Christ actually has become greater than the angels. But Billheimer sees further into this mystery, saying that the angels are "not made in the full image of God". I initially found that very hard to accept, but the more I think about it, it is the only explanation I can fathom for God choosing to make man the focus of His redemptive program. After all, God is not impressed with power or grandeur. It is entirely consistent that He would show His greatest work in a very blind, impoverished being. Billheimer progresses from cosmology to the mystery of prayer, and relates the two. Why, he asks, did God center the entire building of His Kingdom around the medium of prayer? Why would God, who knows everything, and has all power, voluntarily limit Himself to working through the prayers of His church? The answer is twofold. First, it is in prayer that we draw near in ontological union with God. This is our priestly role. If we had power of ourselves, we would employ it independently of God, which would lead to disunity and chaos. So it is necessary that we continually draw near to God and conform our will to His in order to tap into the power available to us. The forms of prayer that most effect this aspect are repentance, thanksgiving, praise and worship. Secondly, through prayer we engage in a spiritual warfare that not only manifests Kingdom victories in the temporal realm on earth, but which also raises us up in authority and power as kings fit to rule the universe - a task to which we are destined, just as the book's title asserts. Billheimer thus constructs a theology of prayer in which prayers prayed in God's will simply must be answered - if the church will persist in praying. And lo and behold, this is exactly what Jesus told us in Mark 11, Luke 18, John 15, and several other places. The book ends on the power of praise. As we exalt God, we ourselves are lifted out of our sodden earthly perspective, and we begin to see according to eternal realities. This actually has been a difficult review to write. I think that it took me so long to read Destined because its subject is an area I need to do a lot of work in. Just as Billy Graham stated, this is a book to be studied carefully and digested prayerfully. If you're looking for an excellent theological challenge and some amazing encouragement to your prayer life, I strongly recommend Destined for the Throne. It's on my list for a reread, soon. |
