5.0 out of 5 stars Great Brazilian Jazz by a Master Musician, September 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Destiny (Audio CD)
Here we have a renewed Antonio Adolfo (far from his Sa Marina years, but still sounding soo great), in this 2007 release with new tunes, full of his distinctive Fender Rhodes sound.
Not much to add to this review, only that it's a very pleasant Brazilian Jazz album with a bit similarity to Sergio Mendes's sound because of the fantastic duo of Antonio's daughters singing at unison.
The team that Antonio and FarOut put together for this historic CD is:

- Antonio Adolfo - Keyboards, Composition, Arrangements, Co-Production
- Arthur Verocai - Strings Arrangements
- Jesse Sadoc - Trumpets, Flugelhorn
- Ivan Conti "Mamao" - Drums
- Carol Saboya - Vocals
- Luisa Saboia - Vocals
- Alex Malheiros - Bass
- Dom Chacal - Percussions
- Marcelo Martins - Sax Family
- Ze Carlos - Guitars
- Robertinho Silva - Additional Percussions
etc, etc.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet Another Stellar Far-Out Album, April 3, 2008
This review is from: Destiny (Audio CD)
Sometimes there are albums that sound so "Brazilian", and this is one of them. Antonio Adolfo's been around for decades. He's an outstanding producer, composer and keyboard/pianist. Very nice, very natural and wonderful sounds. In his albums he tends to focus on the female vocals as a sort of neat, pitched instrument in and of itself layered over the music and bands. The last album of his that I heard (before this one) was the live one he did with his daughter, Carol Saboya. But now he's back and has another album, this time on the terrific "Far Out Records" label. It's the same label that gives us great new material from Joyce, Marcos Valle, Os Cariocas, Azymuth and many more Brazilian legends.

How does this one stack up? Wonderfully! The sound of the album throughout is funky and rich. It's a pure throwback to the early-mid 70's style and it'll immediately remind you of Azymuth's work from that time. And that's by design since Alex Malheiros and Ivan Conti are both involved in this! From the first song you're treated to a little funk and the terrific, captivating and downright addictive harmonizing by Antonio's daughters Carol and Luisa. The momentum carries on up to "Luizao", a track dedicated to close friend Luizao - one of the original bassists of the old "Brazuka" album. A few songs I loved were "Eu e Voce" - because it's so attached to a time-period in it's rhythm and style. It's got a wonderful, cheesy (though I REALLY like it) feel to it that keeps me coming back to hear it again. "Domingo Azul" is also a nice one with a neat bridge. Meanwhile "Dono Do Mondo" (Boss of the World) has so much attitude, although it plays kind of like an optimistic 70's soundtrack in certain parts. "SOS Amazonas" is also a terrific cut.

Can't really go into all the songs - there's a hidden track as an extention of the 10th song too. But I can certainly recommend this one! If you liked music by Azymuth, Trio Mocoto and the funkier side of Brazilian jazz/music from the early 70's or very late 60's, this is definitely for you. The girls' voices are really a thing of beauty, and they make it sound so easy, when in reality hearing the highs and lows of some of the songs - like in "SOS Amazonas", you think - that must've been near impossible! Still, they carry on with these incredible voices, molded into one, that add the extra bit of class to the album. So check this one out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Groove, December 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Destiny (Audio CD)
Put this one on to relax to. Smooth Brazilian jazz funk flavor in a samba pop-sicle, a very 70s feel = instantly likable. The female vocals just push it over the edge. Nice all the way through.
