The book, "Destiny", by Chris Johnson, is a true page-turner. Allow yourself some uninterrupted time, because you won't want to put it down. The story is an entertaining thriller that takes place in Mississippi, along the Gulf Coast and in the Delta, with a few short jaunts to New Orleans.
The characters are well-developed, and bound together rather uniquely. The scenes are described in such detail that you can easily "picture the scene."
The book is a great read, perfect for the holidays!

The title "Destiny" does not really give the reader an indication of the rollercoater bayou thriller that awaits inside. Anyone who enjoys the writings of Carl Hiaasen will love this book. The only thing else I can really say is that the size and cover looks a little too much like a cookbook. Other than that it is an amazing first offering by it's author Chris Johnson.

Destiny takes place along the beautiful, seductive and sometimes tragic Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans area that was deeply damaged; but not broken during Hurricane Katrina. It's a story of a man whose encounter with the Mob forces him to deal with past demons while fighting for his life. The author, Chris Johnson, paints a charming portrait of the Gulf Coast, its' history and traditions entwined in a tale of greed, lust, jealousy, friendship and love. I encourage all to enjoy this intriguing story.

I recently read "Destiny" on recommendation of a friend. What a delightfully intriguing story to read. I was captivated from beginning to end. I feel that it possesses all of the essential elements of great fiction - mystery, intrigue and suspense. Having grown up around the Mississippi Delta and having travelled frequently to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans, the characters in this book seemed true-to-life. The author, Chris Johnson, has cleverly captured the beauty, culture and essence of the Deep South while weaving together a complex series of events that take the reader on an exciting journey which includes an unusual love story. I highly recommend this book.
