Solid inspirational tie-in to "The Prince of Egypt",
By A Customer
This review is from: Destiny and Deliverance ("Prince of Egypt") (Hardcover)
"Destiny and Deliverance" subtitled "Spiritual insights from the life of Moses" delivers a solid collection of 8 chapters each by a different author. Philip Yancey and Joni Eareckson Tada lead the way with particularly well written insights. One pleasant surprise was the terrific contribution of John C Maxwell whose great gifts in speaking and leadership have not always translated well to the printed page. His chapter on the 10 gracious gifts God gives leaders is worth the price of the book. Good stuff all around with a couple of "weak-sister" chapters that don't add much. "The Prince of Egypt" may not have topped the box office but this book helps to broaden the impact of its message.

Insightful views from Christian wrtiers,

This review is from: Destiny and Deliverance ("Prince of Egypt") (Hardcover)
Numerous Christian authors provide their take on the movie and the story of Moses in this book. Even though this whole book has authors providing their views on the same movie, rarely do the reviews get old. Some are better than others, yet with Max Lucado, Philip Yancey and John Maxwell all providing their insight, it is a very uplifting and enlightening account of the Prince of Egypt.

Insightful,
By Harold Wright (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destiny and Deliverance ("Prince of Egypt") (Hardcover)
The book goes well beyond the scope of it's association with the Prince of Egypt film. Rather, the movie label was simply slapped on to help the book sell. A raft of well-renowned writers, including Philip Yancey, Max Lucado, John C. Maswell, Jack Hayford, Joni Eareckson Tada, and others come together to offer their insights regarding the life of Moses. From back of book: "An isolated shepherd, reluctant to lead and haunted by his past, became one of the giants of history whose acheivments changed teh world forever. In the story of Moses, we see ourown potential for deliverance- and for meeting our own unique destiny." It is not a schoalarly book, but rather of the popular inspiration vein. Though not intellectually challenging theologically, it is well written, and benefits by it's broad spectrum of perspective from many the many authors who submitted their reflections. A worthy and pleasant read. Very suitable as a gift, due also to it's handsome quality printing.
