Good Debut from Devine - 3.5 stars, April 4, 2009
This review is from: Destiny Hope Faith Divine (Paperback)
There were a few things that made this a good read for me. At 175 pages, it's a small book; however, Deaubrey Devine tells the story he needed to tell and packs a lot of drama in a short space. Having said that, I would have liked to have seen just a bit more character development in terms of motivation and thoughts. I also liked the main character; he's flawed, which makes him very real to me. At times, I couldn't stand him, but there was something about him that wanted to be good, I think, and that made me want to see him through the journey of the book. Another thing I liked was the ending, and for that, you'll have to read the book to understand. Very interested in seeing what Devine pens next.

( 3.5 stars) A Fast-Paced Novel That's Full Of Humor!, January 28, 2009
This review is from: Destiny Hope Faith Divine (Paperback)
Divine is a sexy, single man that loves to have a good time, especially with women. He gets a little more than he bargains for when he meets a businesswoman named Faith while on vacation. Divine is just interested in a one night stand, but Faith wants more. Unbeknownst to Divine, Faith has her own psychotic issues that need to be addressed. Meanwhile, Divine meets another woman named Destiny. Destiny is everything that Divine wants in a wife, but her questionable behavior is making him have second thoughts. To further confuse things, Divine's old high school sweetheart Hope comes back into the picture with some relationship problems of her own. Hope and Divine begin to offer emotional support to each other, but will it turn into something more?
Destiny, Hope, Faith, Divine is a thought-provoking novel by Deaubrey Devine. Devine brought us an interesting look into the life of a single black man. You will see that there are two sides to Devine. He wants to someday find his soul mate; but on the other hand, he wants to keep his options open. You will see the growth in Devine as he gets closer to finding the woman of his dreams. Readers will also be shocked at some of the actions of Faith. Destiny, Hope, Faith, Divine is a fast-paced novel that is full of humor.

Urban Fatal Attraction, January 25, 2009
This review is from: Destiny Hope Faith Divine (Paperback)
In the novel Destiny Hope Faith Divine readers will be introduced to main character Divine who is the player of all players- who pretty much has a good job, car and a roof over his head. Divine is pretty much living the good life in Atlanta until one weekend on a cruise with his cousin he meets Faith and from that day things are never the same for Divine or anyone in his life.
Destiny Hope Faith Divine will have readers anticipating the next move because of the author's clever ability to make his storyline relatable but also with his characters as well. Each person you wanted to get to know because they all had a story to tell.
Divine truly wants a simple life but that comes at a very high price for him since his encounter with the mentally and emotionally unstable Faith. This novel was truly an urban tale of fatal attraction minus the dead rabbit.
Readers will find the sex scenes steamy as well as the drama that is truly off the wall. Between his hopeful thoughts of working on forever with Destiny, once he finds the Lord and truly wants to do right by a lady but while unbeknownst to him that he still has feelings for his former high school sweetheart Hope.
Destiny Hope Faith Divine was truly an entertaining emotional roller coaster of a book but author Deaubrey Devine did not disappoint with his debut. This is truly one of those books that will have people talking.
This was a great literary job well done!
