4.0 out of 5 stars A great start to a paranormal series August 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ring of Destiny is a story about the small town of Reynald and the craziness that seems to occur there. Jared is a new kid in town and after an accident in his last town takes away his ability to excel at sports he isn't really sure where he fits in the social standing. He is an ex-jock that can't play any sports and feels a bit self conscious about walking with a limp. This keeps him kind of on the outside of everything preventing him from really forming any good friendships. There is one other boy at the school who is even further outside the social spectrum than he himself though so Jared decides to approach him.

Jared soon learns that there is a lot of stuff going on in Reynald that can't be found elsewhere. There is a cult that protects the legacy of the town founder and seems strangely adamant that the rumors of him possessing supernatural artifacts are false. There is also a new girl in town who seems to be able to charm everyone she comes into contact with into doing whatever she wants.

I really enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to more in the series. The characters are interesting and for the most part likable. There is a bit of mystery surrounding a good portion of them, but facts are slowly revealed as this story progresses and I imagine that trend will continue. At the end of the story there were still some things I was left wondering about, but I was totally happy with what had been revealed. I also enjoyed the paranormal aspect without an overwhelming romance aspect. There is a bit of relationship drama involved in the story though it doesn't take it over. I know the next book is in progress and I'm looking forward to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting book January 17, 2015

I usually don't think paranormal books and vampire movies or books but this book is different. It is really entertaining and it is a really interesting book. It had me interested the entire time and I was glued to the book I never knew what was going to happen next and it was one of the most interesting books I have read in a while. I am so glad this is a series and I will get started on the next book as soon as I can. I really like the author of this book and the way he writes his books. This is a must read series

3.0 out of 5 stars This needs work but... July 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot is more or less original but the author is obviously a fan of big bang theory and Sherlock. There are some major editing errors, misuses of words and phrases as well as grammar issues. Destiny is not destination, fool proof is not full proof, noxious is not nauseous, and bit can't be used in place of bitten. It wasn't bad though and at least the characters aren't all the same, they had a little personal development. Not a bad story but please get an editor.

3.0 out of 5 stars rainy day read March 3, 2013

Picture Young Sherlock Holmes meets Buffy, with Twilight/True Blood Vampire...and you pretty much have this book...definitely not high quality literature but a enjoyable rainy afternoon read. Vampire and horror fans will have issues with this book but light fantasy readers should enjoy it well enough...just don't expect too much and it's worth a read..

4.0 out of 5 stars Ring of Destiny February 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book under the thriller, horror genre. I think the author should consider changing the category to the YA crowd. This would be a very good start for a series aimed at that genre. Now about the book...

As I got into the tale I realized that it wasn't what I was expecting but decided to finish it so I could give the author a review. It's a very solid story, moves along at an nice pace and ends up drawing you in to connect with the characters. I thought the story line was original and overall it was an enjoyable read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Medium Young Adult Paranormal February 21, 2013

This is an excellent book for people who really did this genre. If it's one of your occasional forays I can't promise you'll like it all that well. I enjoyed it for the most part, but this is a crowded genre and I've read better. Still, price is right and you might enjoy it enough to pay for other books in this series.
