Editorial Reviews

Some thought it would never happen, but after solo successes and a three-year hiatus the ladies of Destiny's Child have reunited for the eagerly-anticipated Destiny Fulfilled. The Houston-based trio of Kelly, Michelle and some girl named Beyonce follow up their mega successful Survivor with another album full of infectious dance grooves and melancholy tales of women done wrong. Lead single "Lose My Breath" is their first offering of the former. Backed by a kinetic marching band sample, they sing with an urgency that bolsters the Rodney Jerkins-produced track. Current single "Soldier" is more of the same. Featuring T.I. and Lil' Wayne, the song allows the trio to sing the praises of the kind of men they like.

Despite this one-two uptempo punch, DC does do ballads. They go old-school on the moving "If." Michelle, who has several impressive solos throughout, and Beyonce trade lines about finding and holding on to love. However, on "Bad Habit" the trio goes for the paint-by-numbers woman finding her inner-strength theme. Other highlights include the 9th Wonder and Beyonce-produced "Girl" and the midtempo gem "Free." --Rashaun Hall

Product Description

Destiny Fulfilled showcases the signature vocal harmonies and distinctive solo voices of Beyonc‚, Kelly and Michelle on 12 brand-new Destiny's Child tracks, each one pulsing with contemporary rhythms and unforgettable hooks, chronicling an emotional journey across the turbulent landscape of romance, from the exhilarating intoxication of falling in love through the heartbreak of loss to the growth and serenity of acceptance. With Beyonc‚ acting as one of the producers on each of the album's tracks, and songs co-written by all three of the group's members, Destiny Fulfilled is the most personal--and most hand's-on--record that Destiny's Child has ever recorded. 11 tracks in total. Columbia. 2004.

5.0 out of 5 stars DID ANYBODY EVEN LISTEN TO THE WORDS??????? August 5, 2005
Format:Audio CD
First off I would like to say that the CD is bangin.

If half the people that reviewed this album would have listened to the words, then maybe they might have like the CD better. Not to hate on nobody or nothin, but I mean lets listen people.

When DC first came out with the album they said, Ima put it in caps for ya: (THIS CD IS A STORY ABOUT A WOMAN AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER MAN, AND THE OUTCOME OF IT)!!!!!! If you did not catch that, then that may be the reason why you can not get the flow of the CD.

From begining to end the ladies were telling us a story. Do I have to break it down to ya???

They talked about what type of man they wanted (Soilder)

To how he could not keep up in bed (Loose My Breath)

And now that they have their Soilder, how she wants to treat him (Cater 2 U)

To how she misses him when he is gone (T- shirt)

To why he doesn't act the same, and seems to no longer be interested anymore (Is She The Reason)

And how he cheated on her w/ some one else, and her friends are tryin to tell her she needs to let him go(Girl)

To how they cant let go of a cheating man (Bad Habit)

And how they finally let him go and how hes gonna miss her (If)

To how they are rid of him (Free)

And how they were so hurt by what he did and now they are (Through With Love)

To how they finally met some one who really cares for them so now they have found true (Love)

That is the whole CD in a Nutshell. If you could not follow the CD then this may help.........So now you can re-listen to the CD and hopefully it will help. I really think the CD was very creative in how it was put together about women go through relationships w/the good and bad. I can listen to the CD all the way through. So my opion is listen to the words and the CD in its entirty and then decide if you like it.

It's unfortunate to hear that the musical landscape's biggest female group of the last decade is planning on dismantling, but it is sobering and promising to know that they will each have futures. I really do respect Destiny's Child talent. They can harmonize. They can perform, and they have some nice fits (outfits) and very charasmatic but different personalities. Their appeal shows with the fact that they have pulled in sales of almost 3 million copies with this release which makes a statement in this current, sales-declining musical landscape.

LOSE MY BREATH-- Produced by Darkchild and Beyonce, I knew right away after hearing this first single that I had to cop this joint. The energy of this song is bananas. I love the drumline beat. It is definitely unique and at that point, there were no other songs of its kind. It was also good to see that each of the ladies were featured in the song. It was good as well to see that Darkchild made a comeback with a fresh beat. The accompanying video was also unique and hot as well. Another good fact about this song is that it never got overexposed which adds to its quality. A+

SOLDIER-Featuring T.I. & Lil Wayne, produced by Rich Harrison (Usher, J. Lo, Amerie), when I first heard this slow uptempo, I liked it. However, being a male myself the appeal of the song faded fast due to the lyrical content of the song and the fact that the song was overexposed. They played it TOO MUCH. Admittedly, the song is kind of cheesy. They sound like the Pussycat Dolls trying to look for a soldier. While I love DC, what do they know about a true, ghetto soldier? They probably would run if one came their way. The black-and-white video was tight though. Oh yea, this song is kind of long on the CD version.

4.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS CD January 20, 2005
Format:Audio CD
I dont understand why so maybe people dont like it on the internet, but everyone i know does. The only reason I can think of is because of Beyonce being overexposed.I like the fact that each song brings something different to the cd,and also the fact that we here everyones voice, and its pure r&b,and the fact that they are in love make me love it more .my only problem is that i wish the cd would of had maybe 2 or 3 more tracks. But i remember dc said the cd was telling a story, and if you listen to each track you can hear the story.I think most people are either skimming through the tracks or are only listening to the album once, and then judgeing it.If people would be open, and actually listen to their voices, they might have a different reaction.People wanted a survior part2 (IMO the ablum was overhyped),they wanted the independent women of 2000&2001,but they fell in love.I mean they couldnt keep the male bashing going seems they are very where they are right in there life and it shows through there music. My favorite tracks are:

through with love-can i say michell killed the track at the end love the message

if- they all sound so good i love the way hey harmonize

cater to you-they man takes care of them so its there turn to do the same

love-i love this song

Well as of right now they already sold 3 million in the U.S.,so i guess all the bad reviews arent stopping the people heard them

3.0 out of 5 stars Destiny's Flaw: not a great final cd December 15, 2004
By NYCDick
Format:Audio CD
The people rating this cd 4 or 5 stars are either die-hards or those with poor taste in music. One general statement can be made about the entire cd, the harmonies are great. However most of the songs sound like stuff that was left off Beyonce's first cd. It starts off decent with Lose My Breath, a typical DC song (bills, say my name) then the newfangled and gimmicky Soldier is an attempt at capitalizing on the (at the moment) southern hip-hop boom. Cater 2 U is a nice tempo and melody good adlibs beyonce and her backup all sound good on this one; can't complain here. But next, inexplicably, is a patch of medicore mid-tempos. 4-7 shouldnt even be on the CD, they'd have been called cd fillers and wouldnt be too bad of cd fillers if the cd didnt have only 11 tracks its inexcusable that on an 11 track cd you have 4 songs of garbage. #8 "If" picks up a little but the song is too long and michelle's scraggly, struggling voice shouldnt be featured here, unfortunately it is. The highlight of the Cd is track 9 and 10 FREE and THROUGH WITH LOVE great harmonies, everyone sounds great they are listenable repeatedly and get better each time. even michelle sounds good and she carries Through With Love, maybe because her verse is about GOD and she was inspired for once but she actually sounds good here. 11, LOVE, is an appropriate way to end this flawed and likely final cd. Nice, sweet, and forgettable.
