5.0 out of 5 stars If you want Destiny then buy the Collector's Edition September 10, 2014

I don't play as much as I used to, but I do purchase highly anticipated new releases on a regular basis, and when I do - I rarely opt for the 'Limited' or 'Collector's' editions simply because they don't have enough to justify the $40 price difference. This one is beyond a doubt the best purchase you can make if you're thinking of buying the game in general. If you factor in the price of the game and the expansion pass, $35, you're essentially paying $5 for the collector's edition.

In terms of the presentation: This is very well made. I was surprised by the contents and the quality in which they came. The slipcover slides off the box reveals a soft texture material. It opens from the side - and inside you have a metallic casing which contains your game, and access codes for bonus material. Next to the game is an art book. I'm not exaggerating, I was blown away by the quality of the book. I don't want to ruin the experience for you, but you'll be happily surprised.

The Game:

The graphics are intense, and playing it on a 65" it'll definitely feel more immersive. This looks and feels next-gen, and up until now I haven't been able to really say that with many PS4 games. The story is alright, nothing really spectacular or revolutionary. For some reason, the voice of Ghost done by Peter Dinklage falls flat for me. Cortana from the Halo franchise has really made an impact on the Bungie brand, and I was expecting something similar. I know a complaint during Alpha and Beta was that the protagonist didn't have a voice - he does now. The missions are repetitive, but the AI is fairly good. You'll see them dodging and leaning behind pillars, and out of your line-of-sight if they spot you. They don't automatically turn around if you enter the area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Destiny Delivers in Spades!!!!!! September 11, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Limited
How many times have you ordered the "special edition" of a game only to be disappointed upon the release??? That has happened to me more often than I would like to admit. Destiny is a title that breaks this mold. The "Limited" edition of Destiny is truly a thing to be admired. First of all, there is the case in which all the materials are enclosed. when you take the slipcover off, you see the gorgeous artwork of the Limited Edition. The Destiny logo is raised on the front cover and the spine. The opening flap is held closed by an internal magnet. Open the door, and you see the steel book edition of Destiny and the Journal style of other bonus items. Let me just say right now, that the digital downloads alone are worth the upgrade to the Limited Edition. You get the DLC up until next year. The game disc is also enclosed in a very gorgeous steel book holder. The booklet enclosed in the limited case is also very useful. This details the weapons in Destiny, and describes all of the armory in the game. I really like having a hard copy of this, because it allows me to compare the different weapons offline and determine which one would be best to have in my arsenal. There are also some really cool post cards included from the different locations in Destiny. Not sure I would ever really use these, but they are a very cool extra about the background of this game. Destiny is truly an AWESOME game, and I feel it will make gaming history with its design and playability. With the upcoming DLC, this seems to be a game that will continue to provide hours of entertainment far into the future. I would greatly suggest spending the extra bucks for the Limited Edition.

The Game Itself:
I keep reading where people are comparing this to Halo and Borderlands.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am officially addicted to this game September 15, 2014

There seems to be a lot of division between gamers as to whether or not Destiny is worth the hype. In all honesty, in some ways it is and in some ways it isn't. Like most people, I have been following this game since Bungie released the very first concept screenshots. And I eagerly anticipated this game with every trailer and gameplay footage that was shown.

I played both the Alpha and the Beta, and yes, like most people that played these builds, realized that the game was not exactly what we initially thought it would be. I think we all assumed there would be these massive worlds where you could bump into dozens of other players and take place in anything from random encounters, to scripted events, to massive raids and it all had some deep, over-arching story behind it that we were all somehow involved in. Yes, on the surface it does have elements of Halo, Borderlands and World of Warcraft. It does have the sense of grandeur and fantastic gun-play of Halo, it has the insanely addictive loot/leveling-up of Borderlands, and it has an MMO feel (albeit a very light MMO feel). But if you go in expecting a Halo-esque storyline, the hilarity of Borderlands or the sheer scope of WoW, you will be disappointed. I will also say this - if you have played the Alpha or Beta builds, you pretty much know what to expect with this game.

With that said, I have been playing this game non-stop since I got it in the mail and it just gets better and better the more I play it - you will unlock sub-classes for your Guardians, rare/legendary/exotic armor and weapons, more worlds to explore, more multiplayer options via the Crucible, more 3-man Strike missions to go on, and so on. And yes a chunk of your time will be spent grinding.
