Sorry to disagree, but ...,

This review is from: Destiny: The True Story of One Man's Journey Through Life, Death, and Rebirth (Hardcover)
I have likewise read numerous serious works on reincarnation over a period of many years, and this unfortunately isn't one of them. The author may be perfectly sincere -- I frankly am not entirely sure even about that -- but the evidence he presents is very thin. There is a reason why his story was turned down by a British television network which thoroughly researched it (to be fair, the author does discuss this in detail). I gave this two stars because it is mildly interesting and certainly not worthless, but it is not in the same league as a serious work such as those of Dr. Ian Stevenson. The author is one of those individuals who purports to experience such a wide range of paranormal phenomena that you have to wonder whether he may be genuinely disturbed or perhaps embellishing his tale to boost sales. I see this as more for the Rosemary Altea fans than for serious students of the paranormal. Be forewarned as well that the reincarnation aspect is a fairly small portion of the book -- a great deal of time is spent on the author's job changes, personal problems and descriptions of various paranormal experiences. He comes across as very much of a whiner and an egotist, which caused me to question whether this book may be a way to gain the attention he thinks he deserves rather than an accurate account of his experiences.

more to the author than the book addresses,

This review is from: Destiny: The True Story of One Man's Journey Through Life, Death, and Rebirth (Hardcover)
Reading Martins book raised many question within me so I contacted him requesting more information. The extent of the information Martin provided was extensive and demonstrated that his book was only the introduction to his real story. Martins abilities that he begins to highlight in his book are minimal... his ability to demonstrate real life examples of what he has learnt are gobsmacking. I only wish the book had given more insight into his development of parapsychological abilities.

an interesting read with many interpretations,
This review is from: Destiny: The True Story of One Man's Journey Through Life, Death, and Rebirth (Hardcover)
Having read this book, and then the reviews I can only express the reservation that when reading this subject everyone has certain expectations of the content they wish to find. Martins story while not a unique account does strive to convey that his experience of rebirth was only the beginning. It may be a sub-conscious expression or rationalisation of his subjective experience, but whatever you decide it is, the core of his account is that accepting the imposed limitations of inexplicable life events can cause more psychoses than considering the alternative ways of surviving them. The realisation being that once you reject self or socially imposed limitations many more ways of accepting your life become possible. There is a feeling that the authors' tale extends beyond the pages of his book into an even less accepted area of parapsychology that may warrant another book. In all it is provocative and challenges your existing beliefs in a positive form and remember a publisher exerts their influence to sell copies.

Thanks Marty. As well as being an enjoyable story, 'Destiny' is a guide by example; through your story, it tells the readers that they can find the real them, and that if they just stop for a while, they might just find that there's nothing to be scared of, in life.

Compulsive Reading,

This review is from: Destiny: The True Story of One Man's Journey Through Life, Death, and Rebirth (Hardcover)
I started to read the book on a Thursday evening and couldn't stop until I had finished reading it Saturday morning. I enjoyed the full life story, the coincidences and the beautiful description of the other side. Of course there will be the doubters, but it certainly gets you thinking and gives a reason for being here. Can't wait for your next book, Martin.

i read this book and think the author has something to tell. everyone who reads this book will probably see a connection to the somehow "forgotten" world we used to live in. i personally think that the author did a very good job describing his experience in aswell meditation as memories of past life and his experiences on earth this life. i think he managed to tell a lot about the "other" side without giving his personal opinion about it. thanks martin for this beautiful book. Will Pennekamp Holland will_pennekamp_hotmail.com

I have read many books on near death experiences and of a metaphysical nature. I found this book to be the best at tying everything together. It answers many questions that I had about reincarnation and what it is like between this life and the next

I thought it was a most excellent book. Once I picked it up and started reading I could not put it down. I read the entire book in one day. Anyone interest in subjects to do with the psychic realm should give it a read.

I picked up this book in my local library.Once opened I couldn't put it down. It was so interesting,so much so I read it again. Then I asked for it to be bought as a birthday present. I think the author gives an honest account of his extraordinary life,(though other people have had similar type experiences),so far.I found the book to be inspirational as I have gained so much in my personal life from his knowledge. From the many books of similar type I have read this is by far the best.
