Where it all began,

I don't see why this cd didn't sell that well. Believe it or not, this is DC's best cd (vocally at least). There harmonies are tight and the music was excellent. I guess people saw these young girls sounding at little to grown for their own good and dimissed this album for some bubble gum pop that they were expecting from DC back in '98. Honestly, if this was released now, it would be #1. Anyway, the best song on the cd would have to be the opener, Second Nature, because it's so good. No No No Part 2 is aight, I just listenin to the music, the singing was a little off besides the chorus. With Me Part 1 was by far much better that Part 2. Illusion is my second favorite song on the album. It's really the only club banger beside No No No Part 2 and With Me Part 1. If your looking for the best singing from the original DC, this is for you. If you expect something more like Survivor, stay away.

Destiny's Child,
By Geminigirl (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews

Ok so I pulled out debut albums of my recent favorite girl groups and wanted to add my 2 cents about DC's debut. I completely agree with Rara Estilo's comments about the enjoyable parts of this disc - namely the harmonies, the melodies of the songs and how well the vocal production is on this album. That's because at the time, they were obviously a GROUP, that's because it was a time before the "DianaRossification" of Beyonce and her elevation to lead singer (I wish I could take credit for that term but I stole it from someone else and find it hilariously accurate).
The standout songs to me on the disc are: Second Nature (very ambitious taking on the Isley Bros but the vocal production is beautiful) No No No - Pt 2 (should've left part 1 on the cutting board) With Me, Pt 1 (catchy, displays all members' vocals) Tell Me (beautiful ballad) Illusion (another catchy Wyclef production) Sail On It's definitely a disc that fans of the group should have and appreciate because it's a great starting point and reference to see how a group can & did change in just a few short years.

Good album, not enough songs,

Yeah, this is the album when destiny's child were like "sisters" until their lil' incident in early 2000. Enough about them. This CD is enhanced which is also called a CD extra. Just pop it into your CD-ROM and see what happens. The songs starts off with a lovely ballad called "Second Nature". Next the hit & 2nd single called "No, No, No-Part 2" f/Wyclef Jean. This song was hot! The 3rd song was the 3rd single called "With Me-Part 1". The tack is called "Tell Me", it's such a beautiful song. You'll love the way how destiny's child blend in their voices. "Bridges" is like a jazz/club song, most likely you'll just listen to the beat. "No, No, No-Part 1", is the original version of the remix, I wasn't really feeling it. "With Me-Part 2 is hot! Basically cause Master P hooked it up with his rap & beat. "Show Me The Way", the intro is too dang long! I like the song though. "Killing Time" is also featured on the "Men In Black" soundtrack. Yes, Wyclef makes another appearance, on track #10 called "Illusion". LeToya sings the first verse. I'm not really feeling the last 3 tracks, they're "Birthday", "Sail On", & "My Time Has Come". Overall, I gave this album a 4 because there wasn't enough uptempo beats. But destiny's child improved on their 2nd album, "The Writings On The Wall".
