Book Description

The sorceress Narena has done many things for Leisos – advised the king, helped heal a young girl and sent a prince forward in time to save his life. Now, to protect her people, she may have to sacrifice herself, her lover, her child. Maybe even all three.

She hunts for the one who threatens the royal family and the throne of Leisos. And also seeks the daughter taken from her at birth. There’s only one problem. They might be one and the same. What she finds on her quest is love and hate, loyalty and betrayal, and a revelation that will change her life forever.

Ardis is a warrior and former captain of the king’s army. His allegiance to the throne lives in his blood – as does the secret he carries. He will protect both at all costs. Even if it means killing Narena or someone she loves.

Review

***** 5 Stars! The author has created an enthralling story with all the characters in Destiny's Present. I was riveted to the pages from the first to the last while trying to untie all the little strands of the story as I tugged along on them. I still have some questions, but I like that. Some characters I love, some I hate and some I'm not sure what to think of. Ardis the warrior is perhaps the foremost. But I do know that I want to know more. I enjoyed this book a great deal. I would highly recommend it.  Reviewed by Kathryn Bennett for Readers' Favorite

About the Author

Pat has had a love affair with the written word since childhood, many times immersing herself in the stories of Enid Blyton and Carolyn Keene. Her active imagination gave inspiration to short stories and her first play as a teen. As an adult she has penned an award winning short story titled The Battle and A Precious Glimpse in Time published in an anthology. Her full-length play, The Truth About Lies, was staged at a theatrical festival competition in 2008. Although still in pursuit of a place truly called home, Pat currently lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and three cats, all of which claim rule over the house at one point or another. When her nose isn't pressed to the laptop monitor, you can find her at the public library. Besides dreaming up her next novel, Pat also enjoys traveling, baking, camping, wine, and of course reading - not necessarily in that order.

3.0 out of 5 stars This second book has me invested in the trilogy April 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I love discovering and supporting local authors, and when an author happens to write in one of my favorite genres, it’s that much easier to enjoy the book. I read the first book of this series a while back, and while it wasn’t a favorite of mine, I decided to try its sequel.

Unlike the first book of her Daughters of the Crescent Moon series, this book has us travelling in the past. Personally, I enjoyed this second book a little more because we got to learn more about the magical world and the ultimate goals of the antagonists. The presence of the antagonists is also stronger so it makes it more thrilling and dangerous for the characters. Although a few characters from book 1 are back in this sequel, it feels like there’s a disconnect between the two books. One is set in the present, while two is set in the past. The switch in main characters also doesn’t help with the connectivity of the stories. The narrative is completely different and the feel of the stories don’t match.

Although I have a hard time seeing this book as part of a series, the story itself is an entertaining one. The sorceress Narena is on a quest to find the people who threaten the King of Leisos and his heirs. The plot to overturn the kingdom which was discovered in book one is a lot more dangerous than the original theory. Narena suspects Torrin, her ex-lover and father of her daughter, to be involved in the plot, but what she discovers is a lot more complicated and shocking than what she expected. Not only does she reconnect with people from her past, she also meets new people that become unlikely allies.

Since it’s publicized as being part of a trilogy, I can only imagine there will be third book. I can’t wait to see what happens next. This second book has me invested in the trilogy so I will definitely be on the lookout for what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast-Past and Suspenseful! January 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Author, Patricia Lee, is an amazing writer and has brought Sorceress Narena, Medical Examiner Kelly and the rest of the characters to life in this very entertaining and well written sequel. This book is written with so much action, imagination and suspense that I couldn't put it down. I am now patiently waiting for book 3 of the exciting Daughters of the Crescent Moon Trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read December 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Do yourself a favor and don't begin to read this book in bed. ;-) I lost major zzz's while reading Destiny's Present (Daughters of the Crescent Moon)! Seriously, I could NOT put it down. But in return I gained precious memories of a faraway land and place that will forever occupy a special place in my heart. Narena's story grabbed me from the very first page and held on tight until I reached 'the end'. Destiny's Present, like Destiny's Past (Daughters of the Crescent Moon), is a must-read, 5-Star romantic, magical adventure. I can't wait for book 3 of the trilogy.
