VINTAGE TAYLOR,
By "mandylml" (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destiny's Temptress (Paperback)
Readers be warned this novel is a whopping 537 pages! Although it is certainly well researched, I feel that certain details could be glossed over as I have no doubt the war of the north and south is quite well documented and readers just want to get on with the story. The misunderstandings between the fiesty Shannon Greenleaf and Union agent Blane Stevens created many expected conflicts and I sympathize with them for the hardship and mistrust they had to endure during uncertain war times. I do, however, wonder how Ms Taylor manages to keep up with so many supporting characters. Readers not used to her style might be very confused with all the places and names she mentioned. I have to say I learned a lot about the civil war from this book as I usually find this theme quite dry. Also, Ms Taylor is always able to bring her hometown of the romantic old South come to life.

UNION SPY...Shannon Greenleaf had one chance to save the gracious Southern lifestyle she'd always known -- but the fiery-haired beauty had to cross enemy lines to do it. And when she did, she found herself in the bedroom of the most handsome man she'd ever seen -- Blane Stevens. His broad chest and rippling muscles made her yearn for his strong embrace; his dark green eyes smouldering with a deep, burning passion. So when he held her in his arms threatening to torment her until she confessed her real mission, the defiant temptress was lost. She surrendered her innocence, vowing that she'd never reveal the truth -- or let him capture her heart. . . . REBEL SOLDIER...

This is the book that got me interested in reading. It was exceptionally well written. The characters are defiant and strong. The book keeps you well entertained into the night. I couldn't put it down until the story was finished. Even now, having read it no less than 10 times, I still consider this book an all nighter.
