5.0 out of 5 stars It'll take you to another place., February 26, 2006

I just saw these guys last night and was taken to another dimension by their music and stage show. I bought this cd after the show and was taken back near the same dimension only a little to the right by 6 light years. If you like Black Sabbath riffs with a Beach Boys twang, check um out. To get the full effect, you must see them live. Just don't feel sorry for the tv getting smashed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical **mshot!, August 17, 2008

The Amino Acids are no joke as a musical act, or else one HELL of a good joke. Musically, the only bands I can easily compare them to are the Mermen, or say, the right Rev. Horton Heat. An entirely instrumental act, the Aminos play a hybrid surf/hardcore sound, with each song only lasting 1-3 minutes and leaving you wanting more. High energy, extremely FUN rock. Only wish the songs weren't so short.

Minor notes: they always wear masks in concert. They intersperse their music with short soundbytes about alien sightings and men from mars and the like, many clipped from vintage sci-fi films. They are also one of the few rock-type bands that make frequent use of a theremin. And they have a great video at their website, which will do a better job of giving you the lowdown than my review. I purchased all their CDs directly from there. The Aminos are in frequent play here.
