This review is from: Destroyers (Hardcover)
Commencing with the early Torpedo Boats this author skilfully brings us through the evolution of the Destroyer in an interesting and well-thought-out manner. As we move forward from one era of warship design to another so we also switch from one major navy to another in order to cover all the major developments. In this way we are treated to the complete picture of the history of this specific type of ship.

From the invention of the torpedo itself, to a boat suitable enough to carry it into war and right through to the guided-missile craft of today's navies, this book is as complete a work on the Destroyer as you are likely to find.

With some incredible individual actions and incidents along the way, Antony Preston has surpassed himself in making this one of his most readable books.

All the supporting historic photographs are there, plus some excellent cutaway drawing and tales
