Back in the day I had this game for my old Compaq PC. Played it for hours and hours. Loved the music and the style. Well to my suprise I found it but for the Playstation. Well it's not the same as then, prob since I've been playing high end games, but its still gots some kick! Brought back lots of memories and it still rocks. Got the same music and some sweet destruction. Seems to be harder and it won't work in my PS2 but luckly my PS1 is still runnin smooth, sometimes. Def worthe the money for me and glad I can play it anytime.

3.0 out of 5 stars "He Won't Forget That In a Hurry", November 5, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Destruction Derby (Video Game)
Ah Destruction Derby, the game that caused me to beg my parents for a Playstation so many years ago. I remember seeing previews for this game and salivating when I was a kid. The other day I was feeling nostalgic and decided to fire it up. While it's pretty simple by today's standards, and maybe I'm biased because I spent so much time playing this as a young'in, I still had a blast playing it. Every corny thing the announcer said, along with the graphics on the cars, brought back many good memories. I'm not sure somebody that has never played this game would pick it up and feel the same way about it, but for me at least, it's still an enjoyable way to blow of some steam all these years later.

The premise of the game is exciting, no holds barred racing. You won't find any flags in this game besides green and checkered. Bad driving is encouraged. The developers created a total of six circuits (one unlocked after beating the game) to go along with one arena for the destruction derby mode. This number is a little misleading, because during championship mode the layout of the tracks change for each race. While the physics of the car are realistic enough, the racing itself is pretty ridiculous. Your local demolition derby this is not; cars drive into each other head on at 100 miles per hour, take a little damage, and continue on their way like nothing happened. The handling of the cars themselves is pretty atrocious, and the racing can be frustrating because it seems like all of the computer controlled cars are out to get you.

You'll spend most of your time in the aptly titled "Wreckin' Racing" mode, where the objective is to finish in 1st place and rack up as many points as you can along the way by causing as much chaos as possible. There's also a Stock Car Racing mode where the goal is to simply finish in first place, a Demolition Derby mode which is pretty self-explanatory, and a Time Trial mode for those people that truly have no lives. There's not a ton of depth and re-playability to be found here, but f you can get past the first-generation PSone graphics and sloppy controls, there's definitely some fun to be had here.

2.0 out of 5 stars dated, July 21, 2010

This game is one of the worse racing games i have ever played. Playstation 1 had some great games but this is not one of them. Even the publisher Psygnosis has made better games on the PS1 ie. Blazing Dragons, Discworld. This is one of those series that should have of stopped and tried something different. Lame sound, bad control, bad graphics, and chunks of stuff that are supposed to be damage fall off your car, not as cool as you might think. Instead play GT or Twisted Metal. Maybe it is just too dated to play. Or, maybe we have come so far since this game that it just looks bad. Even the derby elimination is totally crappy. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being unplayable and 10 being the best, i give it a 2.5. You can play it, but you won't want too.
