5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Bodenplatte explained from both sides............, December 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Destruction at dawn: The air-raid coded "Bodenplatte" : Luftwaffe vs. the allies, New Year's Day, 1945 (Hardcover)
Written by WW2 veteran Sptifire pilot W.A. Bishop, this book covers the last famous air battle of the war. Mr Bishop provides much background information on the planning of this battle, Then procedes to cover it's execution and overview of the results. Provides historical information on the thoughts and actions of many verterans, from both sides. An invaluable referance to anyone interested in the last months of the the Air War in Europe. After reading it, I was amazed to find out that this raid could have indeed altered the course of the war, and delayed its end in the West. This book needed to be written, and Mr. Bishop covers all bases. Highly recommended, PHG

This review is from: Destruction at dawn: The air-raid coded "Bodenplatte" : Luftwaffe vs. the allies, New Year's Day, 1945 (Hardcover)
The Luftwaffe opened 1945 with a last-ditch, desperate attack on the Allied airbases in Belgium and The Netherlands, which caused spectacular damage to both sides. "Destruction at Dawn" gives both sides' stories to this mammoth aerial engagement, in almost minute-by-minute coverage. For human detail on a bizarre and destructive battle of the World War II airwar, this book cannot be beat. It is a "universal problem solver" for that day. Most highly recommended.
