The Photo Logic PL-10 Window Mount Clamp provides a quality solution to smoothly and efficiently hold almost any imaging device firmly onto a car window or other thin surface up to 1/2 inches thick when a conventional three-legged tripod is useless.  Digital or film cameras (even with long telephoto/ zoom lenses), camcorders, spotting scopes and binoculars (optional binocular tripod adapter might be required) are held steady and secure while allowing outdoor / nature / adventure / surveillance photographers and hunters to remain comfortably seated inside their vehicle. The PL-10's versatile three-way tripod pan head incorporates a bubble level, a quick release mounting plate for fast camera attachment / removal and is mounted onto a sturdy die-cast metal "C" clamp with cork cushioning to protect the mounting surface. The quick release mounting plate offers a standard 1/4"-20 threaded camera screw plus a retractable video camera stabilizing pin. A long, easy-to-grip handle lock provides front to back tilting (altitude adjustment) while a large lockable knob gives 360 degrees horizontal rotation (azimuth adjustment). In addition, a lockable hinge offers 90 degrees of side tilting to quickly position your camera or other imaging device for vertical shots. Main Reasons to use a Window Mount Clamp: Get maximum image quality whether you are shooting stills or video. Extremely Sharp pictures even at the shorter focal lengths and macro applications, never mind at the extreme telephoto settings where every little movement is magnified and reduces picture sharpness. I have used this item only one time and it seems ok. It's got a very plastic look and feel to it. Looks like if you over tighten some of the swivel parts to hold the camera position that they might break. I will have to pay attention to that. I'm talking a SLR camera and the weight of L-lens on it. So I'll see how it goes on that.It wasn't a great deal of money and it looked to be the best one available through Amazon.

I am very pleased with quality and sturdiness of the detachable tripod. It helps with getting those "quick" pan video shots or even important shots with my Nikon DSLR. Normally I would set up my professional tripod (which is considerably heavy).

I'd highly recommend the portable detachable tripod on ease of usability, convenience, functionality and price. It serves the purpose and I'm confident that my Nikon DSLR is secure when properly attached.

The item works as advertised, but I thought I'd use it more than I do. Because of the weird angles of my car's windows and the mount's controls it's not as easy or useful as I thought it would be. Use it if you don't need to do a lot of quick re-framing. Would probably be tricky for video pans.
