Important little tips that are sometimes overlooked...., June 2, 2006
This review is from: Detailed Mechanical Design: A Practical Guide (Hardcover)
The great thing about this book is that it contains many little helpful tips about how to make parts of your designs better. Although not a text that teaches you a lot of theory and problems, it has a strong base of examples and from those it allows you to see many different situations in which small details can be improved, and lead to huge differences. For any practical designer I would highly recommend it. The only downfall is that it's small, and when I bought it, expensive.

Most mecahnical engineers and designers should read this, March 13, 2009
This review is from: Detailed Mechanical Design: A Practical Guide (Hardcover)
Though small, this book is full of detailed ideas that will make your mechanical designs functional and fit well. Many will read this and get the idea that it does not have anything new, but once you start to read it - you begin to think about the implication of the ideas presented. When I first read this book all I could think of was my past designs that I was less than happy with. I wish I would have had this a lot earlier and of course, payed attention to it.
Will this book make you a better mechanical design engineer? Only if you want to be better. Part of the title contains the words "A Practical Guide" and it is just that. I highly recommend it.
