5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, February 1, 2010
This review is from: Detective Pancake (Paperback)
This book is very cleverly written and just a fun read that any child would enjoy. It easily keeps a child's interest from start to finish and leaves them wanting to read it again and again! My kids really enjoyed the story and it kept them guessing how it would end - I would definitely recommend it to any mother!

My kids loved the book. They have read it several times now, it kept their interest and they couldn't wait to turn the page to see what was to come next. Can't wait for another book to come from the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful read for preschoolers, October 19, 2010
This review is from: Detective Pancake (Paperback)
Detective Pancake

You know how they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? There's someone else who knows it too, and he or she is sneaking into people's houses, throwing their breakfast foods on the wall or even stealing their breakfasts. Who would do such a thing and why? While the others stand around wondering what to do, Detective Pancake springs into action and solves the mystery before the second batch of eggs gets cold.

The rhythmic, rhyming style of writing shows great creativity. It's not quite poetry, and not quite prose, it's "ear candy" when read out loud.

The illustrations are definitely "eye candy." I want to spend hours just staring at them. Lowell Hildebrandt deserves every award that exists for his excellent work.

As a School Library Technician, I spend a lot of time reading to small children, and I know what their attention spans are like. This book is one of the few that will keep their attention. A definite must for any library.

If you lost your pancake, have no fear. There is a new Detective in town who

will find your pancake for you. Detective Pancake can be located in a new book,

"The Detective Pancake" by Tracy Searight Dilbert.

This book is absolutely precious, very creative, beautifully illustrated by

Lowell Hildebrandt, and guaranteed to make you hungry for a good hot breakfast....

but remember to keep an eye on your food. Someone is waiting to take it away from you.

But now we have Detective Pancake on the case!

So, read this great book and see for yourself what happens!

What a great book for young kids and the young at heart. I highly recommend this sweet

book for the Library catalog. I am giving my own copy of this precious book to the

landmark Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn Public Library which has been in existence since 1941.

It was truly an honor to review this book. It was a pleasure to do so.

Sincerely

5.0 out of 5 stars Who Do You Call When Your Breakfast Goes Missing...?, April 28, 2010
By
This review is from: Detective Pancake (Paperback)
A hungry child awakens to the delicious smell of breakfast filling the air - only to find that his food is missing. Soon, he and his family discover that breakfast snatchings are happening all over town, so they know they have only one option: call Detective Pancake, who leaps into action - promising to have their case solved by dinnertime.

Detective Pancake is an enjoyable read. Author Tracy Searight Dibert's entertaining tale of culinary suspense is a quality selection for young readers, both engaging and easy to follow. Furthermore, the rhyming, lyrical format of the story and vivid, complementary illustrations add to its considerable appeal, making it quite the pleasant reading experience for parents, teachers, and children alike. A rewarding literary treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars when your breakfast is in crisis, April 9, 2010
This review is from: Detective Pancake (Paperback)
A clever story with a great twist. A surprise ending. Great use of cooking words. Characters include News Anchor Pam and Officer Teflon. Illustrations are terrific. " Hold on to your breakfast. You better eat it quick this criminal moves so fast your eggs won't have time to stick." This is a great addition to any young readers book shelf.
