More About the Author

Jeanne Betancourt grew up in rural Vermont, where she spent a lot of time playing on the dairy farm across the road from her family's apartment. At the time she had no intention of becoming a writer -- she took tap dancing classes and dreamed of becoming a Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Her rural upbringing would later provide ideas and background for many of her books.
After college and three years teaching in Vermont, Jeanne moved to New York City, where she taught junior and high school, and earned a masters degree in film studies from New York University. She wrote her first children's book in 1982, and since then has written a wide variety of acclaimed fiction and nonfiction books for young readers. Betancourt drew on her own memories and dreams while writing Kate's Turn, which focuses on a young teen's pursuit of a dance career; her own experience with dyslexia helped her create the title character of My Name Is Brian. And her rural upbringing, of course, helped her create the popular Pony Pals series.
Pony Pal fans are encouraged to visit ClubPonyPals.com to play games, make friends with other Pony Pals around the world, and enter a virtual Pony Pal world where they can ride with the Pony Pals.
Jeanne has written 76 books for children and young adults. Her most recent book is Ava Tree And The Wishes Three (Feiwel and Friends, Macmillan).
In addition to writing, Jeanne also loves to draw and paint. Her other interests include biking, and gardening. She still loves to dance.
In addition to writing books, Betancourt has also written for television, and has received six Emmy Award nominations, two Humanities citations, and the National Psychological Award for Excellence in the Media.
For more about Jeanne check out her website jeannebetancourt.com and her Facebook page.
She divides her time between an apartment in New York City and a home in Orient, New York.

Changes such as these drastically change the plot and make the novel less riveting and fail to satisfy my need for literature pertaining to animal violence.

I bought this book for a good friend of mine, and I must say that it brought honest to God tears to my eyes. The mystery is deliciously intertwined with the flawless cross-species love story that is one for all time.
This book is for lovers of the classics: Frankenstein, Dracula, The Grapes of Wrath, and Twilight alike. I can't even describe how the moral struggles of this timeless tale have affected me in my day to day life, and I believe that change does happen. All you have to do is BELIEVE.

I Believe This Book Is Good For Lighthearted Fun But For More Serious Matters You Should Look Elsewhere Terezi And Equius Have Given This Book Far Too Generous Reviews Possibly Because Of Their Bias In Favor Of Horses

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN, TEREZI AND EQUIUS READ IT SO WHY WOULD IT BE ANY GOOD?

ITS STUPID. JUST FLAT OUT RIDICULOUS. I INDIRECTLY MADE HOOFBEASTS, I THINK I KNOW HOW THEY WORK, I THINK I KNOW WHAT THEY THINK, AND THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY THINK OR HOW THEY WORK. JUST A COMPLETE PIECE OF CRAP. I HATE EGBERT A THOUSAND TIMES MORE FOR SUGGESTING THIS TO ME.

The version sold on Amazon does NOT contain Chapter 11 ("The Final Freakout") and "APPENDIX A: OFFICIAL BODY COUNT". The storyline also seems to have been altered. For example, the scene where Acorn stomps a cat to death is replaced with a scene where Acorn sniffs the cat. Changes such as these drastically change the plot and make the novel less riveting and fail to satisfy my need for literature pertaining to animal violence. It is very important for this need to be met, or else the urges to throw knives come back*.

None of these are my biggest complaint, though. I was absolutely devastated to find out that in this edition, Lil' Sebastian's name was changed to Snow White. That was the last straw. It was set in stone that this revision was completely heinous. TRUE FANS, DO NOT BUY.

*Darla, if you're reading this- Timmy's funeral is on the fifteenth of January.
