The version sold on Amazon does NOT contain Chapter 11 ("The Final Freakout") and "APPENDIX A: OFFICIAL BODY COUNT". The storyline also seems to have been altered. The version sold on Amazon does NOT contain Chapter 11 ("The Final Freakout") and "APPENDIX A: OFFICIAL BODY COUNT". The storyline also seems to have been altered. For example, the scene where Acorn stomps a cat to death is replaced with a scene where Acorn sniffs the cat. Changes such as these drastically change the plot and make the novel less riveting and fail to satisfy my need for literature pertaining to animal violence. It is very important for this need to be met, or else the urges to throw knives come back*.

None of these are my biggest complaint, though. I was absolutely devastated to find out that in this edition, Lil' Sebastian's name was changed to Snow White. That was the last straw. It was set in stone that this revision was completely heinous. TRUE FANS, DO NOT BUY.

*Darla, if you're reading this- Timmy's funeral is on the fifteenth of January.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, May 27, 2004
By A Customer
If I were a third grader who was given this book I would hate the person for giving it. The books in this series seem to be too simplified in their language and concepts, like the author is constantly talking down to the reader.

Overall a cute story but I had issues with the way that it was presented. The relation between Shadow (the cat) and Acorn (the pony) was a wonderful children's story but the way that the author writes just annoys me.

I recommend Bonnie Bryant's "Pony Tails" series over this "Pony Pals" series. Bryant does a better job of illustrating a story with words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jenn's Review of Pony Pals Detective Pony from Cutchogue East, January 26, 2006
A Kid's Review
Rage, intensity, passion. That's everything and more in the book Detective Pony by Jeanne Betancourt. Rage as in scary. Intensity as in breath taking. And passion as in doing anything until he succeeds. Always waiting for an adventure to happen. Little does Acorn (main character) know, that he's about to embark on his greatest adventure yet.

A lost black cat soon becomes Acorns new best friend. Playful, and loving describes the cat. Then after a huge snowstorm, the cat has gone missing. Everyone is looking for the cat. Will Acorn be able to find his cat in time, or will it die out in the cold or in a fight?

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." That's the theme to the book Detective Pony by Jeanne Betancourt. That means that you shouldn't give up. You just need to keep trying. When Acorn lost his best friend (the black) he didn't give up. He kept looking for the cat in every path he could find in hope to find his cat.

Eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! "What's wrong acorn", said Pam Acorns owner. As fast he could run, Acorn at the speed of light lead Pam to a fast burning fire in the new vet office. Will all the animals die in the burning fire? Will Acorn be able to save all of the animals? Read Detective Pony to find out.

I recommend this book to anyone who is a horse lover or who loves a good intense story. This book is like no others. Instead of having a human detective like Sherlock Homes the detective is a pony. Don't you think animals are more interesting than people? If you read this book I hope you love it as much as I did
