We have had this scale for about 3 weeks and we like it very much.
The dial is large and very easy to read, but the best feature is the accuracy. It reads VERY CLOSE to the balance scale at our doctor's office.
It seems to be made very sturdy and I am positive we will get many years of usage out of it.

Despite the digital age, I still prefer to use a scale that has a dial; and this one is a great scale with a dial made by Detecto. Other reviewers have noted that it's tough to go wrong with this purchase--and they are right. The scale is very accurate when you weigh yourself; it tells you your weight with the same accuracy as the scale in your doctor's office.

In addition, the dial has larger numbers which makes it easier to see just how much you weigh without straining to look--even the one pound increments are marked well enough for you to see them clearly while you are still standing on the scale. The tabs can help you easily see just how close (or how far) you are from your ideal weight or a certain weight that you have set as a goal for yourself. That's excellent.

There are not many negative things I can say about this scale, although I must admit it costs more than other scales. Then again, when you consider that you're buying a high quality scale by Detecto that lasts years without ever needing batteries, the extra money you spend is worth it.

I compared this scale to my husband's wrestling scale which is very accurate, and the readings were the same for this scale. I really like the color markers so you can track your progress. A very solid purchase.

I bought this scale as I was tired of gaining or losing 5 lbs a day with my old one. This Detecto is very accurate and I am pleased with it even thought I can't blame the extra 5 lbs I've gained on the scale!

I like the scale very much. It is a good size and the dial is large enough so I don't have to lean over to read it. There are a few things I don't like. It won't return to zero, so I just subtract the one or two pounds it already reads. The control to try to make it go to zero is very difficult to turn which is one reason I just subtract whatever it reads when I step on. I think the feature I like least is that the lines for the divisions between the 10# increments are very difficult to read, even with glasses on.

This scale seems to be relatively accurate but needs to be zeroed every time you use it. It,s made in China. The foot pad area is too small for my size 10.5 feet. Don't step on the dial area because the plastic will crack ( I found this out the hard way).
If your tired of digital scales that only last 1yr than this is not a bad option. I guess you would have to buy a professinal scale and pay about double to get something better

It feels a bit cheap. And every time you step off of it, the dial is at a different place than where it was before you stepped on it (i.e., if the dial is resting at 0 when you first step on the scale, it generally only goes back to 2 or 3 pounds once you step off of it). Otherwise, it seems okay - you just have to be mindful to set the scale back to 0 when you step off.

Purchsing this scale seemed like the right idea having seen an older model of this make and type up close. What I got was nothing like the original old accurate scale I remember. For starters, the platform will not allow you to distribute your weight evenly unless your put your feet at an awkward 20o angle. The old verision allowed a full even footprint. When unpacked and put on a hard floor, the needle was not anywhere near 0. In fact it was nearly impossible to calibrate it. Each step on and off shifted the dail off. But, when as close as we could get it, the reding was about 3 lbs too low. To double check, we put our calibration weights on it in several differnt weight levels with a consistent error. Overall quality was very poor. Detecto made a huge mistake in farming manufacture, and maybe parts, to China. The calibration wheel felt terrible. There was friction it squeaked and felt like it was about to break. This is nothing like the original and can not be recommended.

I was very disappointed with this scale. It was difficult to get it to a true zero to begin weighing, and then based on the tilt of my head, the weight changed considerably. I placed this in our large bathroom and the humidity destroyed the plastic lens.

Easy to read with large numbers. No batteries to ever be changed. Nice little tabs mark your current weight. Super simple to use - you just step on it and it tells you one thing, your weight.
