Fantastic Album!!!, August 6, 2009
I'm a Brecker Brothers fan to the max, I wanted to send out the word to other fans that you might miss out on this album if you go by the statement written on this album, roughly it says that the material on the recording is "previously released" as Heavy Metal Bebop. Heavy Metal Bebop is an incredible album I have it. and this is what I want to tell you; the music on Détente is not the music on Heavy Metal Bebop. If you are guided by this, then you may miss out on some really great music.
The world has lost a great musician in Michael; I hate to see him gone. Gratefully we can enjoy the magic left from his outstanding talent. I don't approach Jazz like most, for me it's highly personal, I will like it or I wont. Brecker Brothers music speaks to me. I rate Détente five stars, really great music.
I would also like to recommend Randy Brecker's - Some Skunk Funk, this may be considered the farewell album from the Brecker Brothers. I say this because; to my knowledge it's the last album by the Brecker Brothers. Despite Randy headlining the album, this is a full-blown Brecker Brothers album complete with some really killer new material. Peace to you all, may you find as much satisfaction as I have over the years. This music is phenomenal!

unbelievable swing, July 6, 2006
This review is from: Detente (Audio CD)
Well, how d'you put that one? Say, in 1984 or so, following a friend's advice I checked the (never heard before) Brecker brothers, the only one they carried in store was "Detente" so I bought it; well next thing I remember is being P... off by the disco-funk beat which I hated, but after some 30 seconds when the first chorus went off, had realized that it was my best record ever. Well what they do is, take any style and burst it from the inside, into jazz frenzy. My masters ever since, btw I used to play trumpet and my bro is still a pro at saxophone, he learned a great deal from them crazy brothers.
You can blindly go for it, quality 360° scope.
