I discovered the "Determined" CD when I purchased the "My Everything" three-disc set which also includes "Tramaine" and "Tramaine Treasury." I was very impressed with the various musical styles presented by this outstanding artist.
"Waymaker" is an upbeat, energetic, hand-clapping tune in which one is encouraged to trust God. One of my favorite songs. Her adlibs at the end are unusual and interesting.
"Greatest Lover" has a definite jazz feel. One can visualize a jazz ensemble of pianist, bass/cello player and drummer playing softly in the background as Tramaine stands at the microphone and sings quietly but passionately. Very nice song.
"Giving & Living" is contemporary, joyous and encourages one to be grateful. Her voice and the music are well matched and go together very well. One can tell she means what she sings. Having some children sing along with her at the end is a nice touch.
"Rescue Me" is my absolute favorite. I find myself listening to this one over and over again; maybe it's because it's significant to what I'm going through right now. Tramaine sings from her heart of hearts with rich, honest, powerful vocals. I am frequently moved to tears and I often lift my hands in praise to God as the tears flow. The Roger Sound works well at the end.
"Trust & Obey" is a couple of nice verses featuring only her voice and piano. It reminds me of a Sunday morning church service in which a young choir soloist steps forward to give simple praise to God.
I love the traditional gospel sound of "Set Me Free." Excellent piano playing complements her voice perfectly. Strong, heartfelt vocals. Another favorite of mine. Stellar background vocals as well.
"Can't Find The Words" is interesting. It starts off with a classical, almost operatic feel, then has a gospel flavored vibe, then returns to the classical genre. Very refreshing.
"I Am Determined" is fast-moving, upbeat and energetic. I like her performance of her own background vocals. The lyrics are very uplifting. Tramaine seems perfectly comfortable singing this song.
"I Need You" starts off with a bang. Her BGVs add a layer of dimension. It has a contemporary twist and a very good beat.
"Hear My Word" is slow, melodic and beautifully showcases Tramaine's lovely voice. Simple and sweet. Very poignant song.
This is an excellent CD, one of my favorites of all time!!
