Brutal (in a good way), February 11, 2009
This review is from: Dethklok: The Dethalbum (Authentic Guitar TAB Book & DVD) (Authentic Guitar-Tab Editions) (Paperback)
Totally brutal. 120 pages. Most tracks have at least 3-5 guitars going at once, so it can be overwhelming for solo guitar performances, but lots of work went into this. The intro is quite amusing, there are a few colored page spreads which probably add to the cost and there are background images scattered throughout the book.
The DVD is kind of weak, and has the Skwisgaar lesson from the season 1 dvd, and the Brendon Small Deththeme lesson that can easily be found on youtube.
All the tabs seem spot on, and if one is to compare the Thunderhorse transcription in the the book to the one from Guitar World, the book's version is in a different position and I personally find it easier to play.
All in all, easy to read, a lot of fun to play, and due to the multiple guitars that were tracked, can be broken into several skill levels. If you want to learn Dethklok songs, stick with this book, and avoid most of the lame free tabs that can be found on the internet.

this is a very good tab book. one of the best i've ever seen. it is very specific on when effects are used, what type, the denotation of things such as pinch harmonics. the dvd that came with it was not horribly helpful, but that doesn't matter because the book is so good. i would highly recommend this book and this company (alfred) for any guitarist, no matter what skill level.

better than dealing with guitarworld.com, April 9, 2010
This review is from: Dethklok: The Dethalbum (Authentic Guitar TAB Book & DVD) (Authentic Guitar-Tab Editions) (Paperback)
This book is very accurate and fun. It is much easier to buy this tab book then try to request more dethklok on [...] whose site imo gives every appearance of being fake. [...] seems as if they use fake user names to attack user names they want to silence because the GW web site seems to be a big fake advertisement for the company using fake users to fool real readers. Right now the GW website appears as if they are using fake user names to pretend there is a demand for country, jazz, blues etc in the mag and have less metal tabs like dethklok in it. GW already has at least 3 repeats per issue and it is hard enough to get decent extreme metal tabs as it is wihtout wasting a tab on country or something. Anyway, this is an awesome book. So I would advise you to buy it becasue you are not going to see this type of thing in GW ever as they continue to waste the only one or two new tabs per issue on blues, jazz, or country and appear to be manipulating the user names of their website to fake out people who would rather see metal like this in the mag. So support the book, because stuff like this will show up less and less in GW.
