I was first introduced to this band when Pandora played the song "Your Scars" on my station. Eventually I bought that single. Then much later since I liked it I thought I'd check out the whole album. I'm glad I did. The whole album seems to have the same vibe as "Your Scars" in that it's laid-back indie pop that puts me in mind of Belle & Sebastian or the Shout Out Louds. It's a nice relaxing listen. And I love the one lyric: "Chocolate covered cherries/scary, scary berries." Though personally I loved chocolate covered cherries.
That is all.

A welcome find for fans of indie and alt-pop, Charlemagne handily blends psychedelic and sunny aesthetics with abstract-poetic lyrics. The choicest, hookiest morsels are frontloaded on the album, with Nematode and Greyhound being my personal faves.
If you like these folks, check out Monolith, Viva Voce, and Stars.

Sweet melodies and harmonies,

Detour Allure sports toe-tapping beats and soft melodies that give it an upbeat but mellow feel, and the quiet, low-key male and female voices lull one into a state of contentment as they sketch vignettes of travel, love, and survival. Each song is like a moment out of every day life; the lyrics speak of the joys, tribulations, and quiet moments that meet us as we travel day to day, hour by hour through our lives. It is easy to feel a connection and understand the songs, because they represent experiences that are in some way common to us all, and recall memories of our own pasts. The songs show the cycles in life; the cycles of the season and the earth and the cycles in relationships - the joy in love, the loss, and the healing and renewal. Both these cycles and nature and relationships are best exemplified by the last song, "Hello September," which speaks of the loss of summer and the loss of love and reminds the listener that all things change.

Reviewing music is like reviewing paint colors - everyone is different. So let me give you an idea about me. Former musician, I like all kinds of music, but particulary Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band.
NPR suckered me into this one. They played one track that sounded good and it is was. The rest of the album... not so much. Haven't played it since I bought it more than a year ago.
