In this heartwarming collection of true-to-life devotional vignettes, bestselling author Carol Kent combines inspirational stories with humor to illustrate the joys and trials of real life.
You’ll smile as you hear God’s voice in the funny and poignant situations that make life so worth living.
Written for women, Detours, Tow Trucks, and Angels in Disguise is a wonderful book to give as a gift to your friend, mom, or sister.
This collection gave me what most readers want from a book like this-a sense of love and encouragement in the midst of a loss...[This book] is a container of unexpected pleasure, gentle laughs, and occasional tears as you witness God's mercy and love. (Leigh Neely, Christian Single, April 1997)
Here is a winning book! It's for laity to read for inspiration and clergy to read for inspiration and sermon illustrations. The book's moods cover tragedy, hilarity, and all degrees in between. Excellent writing style; crisp, moving, and contemporary. I can't urge preachers and teachers too strongly to get this book. It's exceptional. -- The Communicator, May 1997

And you’ll find yourself reflecting on the stories of your own life, seeing God’s grace at work in you.

I love Carol Kent's writing. In this book, she shares such good and humorous stories, but ones with a poignant side as well. I have used many of them to read on tape for a vision impaired, bed-ridden friend of mine who suffers from multiple sclerosis and can't read herself. She has enjoyed them and asks for more.

The way Carol has written this book it can be read in just a few readings - not that you would want to rush it though. For each chapter she has attached additional thoughts/prayers and verses from the Bible.
Just like Carol speaks at Seminars - she gets right into the heart of the matter and makes the reader feel as though she is just talking to them, one on one. She subtly weaves humor to cushion several very serious topics.
Be sure to read the section where she describes a chain letter she received about sending your husband to the woman whose name is at the top of the list.
Can't wait to read other materials she has written.
