I purchased these patches on the recommendation of a friend and was very surprised at the amount of toxic brown materials that came out of my feet on the very first day of using the patches.

I did rotate the patches to different parts of my feet to test the effects of the placement and noted that if I overlapped the patch location over sections of my feet that already had been treated that less toxin came out, thus showing me that this was not some effect due to the heat of my feet but more along the lines of actually pulling toxins from the feet as advertised.

I have tried one other brand since I picked up the first pack of these gold foot patches and am ordering the gold patches again because it does seem that the gold foil backing and ingredient list really does the trick in getting the feet hot enough to open the pores and begin drawing the poisons out. I will be ordering these patches regularly from now on!

One other effect I noticed was that the treated area of the feet just feel great after being treated and there is a somewhat buoyant feeling that goes with the treatement process. This is a purely subjective observation, but I think it is important to point out that the overall experience *felt* good and, in my mind, was a worthwhile investment. I've decided to invest more into doing about a one month treatment and to keep treating myself until the patches clear of toxins and come out with little, if any, discolorations.

My vote? Thumbs up! These work!

I hate to throw cold water on something that might bring relief to pain sufferers. I am definitely among you with Lyme, EBV and other immune system disorders plus chronic bone infection. I'm almost cured of the immune problems taking antibiotics for the Lyme and Immune Care 64 (Google it) for the EBV (herpes six mostly) but the bone infection may still kill me. I looked into EVERYTHING to draw out toxicity and reduce the constant body pain. I tried six different brands of these footpads for three months.

I'm an engineer so I tend to be analytical in all I do. I contacted every company who makes or resells them asking for just one study by a recognized lab showing that the "brown yucky gunk" I saw each morning was actually from the body. I gave up. All I received were "glowing testimonials". You can get that with sugar pills from people who are desperate for relief. I finally did my own test. I researched body sweat. I made imitation body sweat with the right salts and other minerals of the body then heated it to body temperature. Dipping these pads into the imitation body sweat generated the same brown gunk.

How do they heat the foot to cause it to sweat? There are three rocks found in nature that emit heat naturally. One is radium. Much exposure to that can kill you. But there is another rock that emits heat and is harmless. Mixed with the bark of the Japanese tree used to make these pads, the rocks heat the soles of your feet as you sleep. The resulting sweat soaks into the pads and causes the bark to turn to brown gooey gunk. If it is really toxins from the body, would someone please tell me of an independent and scientifically recognized laboratory who has tested the results for body toxicity. Please, no testimonials. Every company in this business has plenty of those. But actual lab results? I have found none and I REALLY looked. And I REALLY wanted these to work to remove the toxicity that was causing me so much pain, but that was finally alleviated by a doctor diagnosing me with Wilson's Syndrome. I was put on armour thyroid. My metabolism began to work again and detox my body naturally. These pads are like many things. If they truly make you feel better then, by all means, use them. But I know of no scientific evidence that proves they draw out toxicity and I have simulated the process that generates the brown gunk you think is toxicity from your body. Take one pad and put a corner of it into salt water heated to body temperature. You'll have the brown gunk within minutes.

**UPDATE: 4 years later.. June 2011. In my experience, the formula and quality of these foot pads can vary a lot. When I wrote this review in 2006, the footpads I ordered were called Body Relief but were sold by a company Bee Hemp. Looks like this new seller, HONG, attached to the same ASIN and my review now points to a product that may be a different formulation. I have not tried these footpads sold by HONG so I cannot vouch specifically for the quality. I do still use (and enjoy benefit from detox foot pads) I found BodyRelief Detox Foot Pads (10 Per Packet) to be similar in effect to the ones I review here. I once tried two types of footpads from Kenrico and neither variety felt beneficial.**

Original Review: I have used these foot pads for 10 days. They really helped kick off my new health plan. I had trouble motivating myself to make healthy changes and after the benefits of a few nights of using these pads I felt more inclined and have now been on a juice diet for several days.

I am unsure how these pads work. They may turn brown in part due to oxidizing and from pulling moisture from your foot. I'm not sure that they are turning brown due to toxins. But in any case, I do feel better each night after using them. For me they worked best on my feet. When I put the pads in other areas (back, shoulders) the pads stayed white.

I have felt benefit from these detox pads and will order them again.

***Edit several months later***
I have ordered these footpads several times now. I really enjoy the relaxing effects of these footpads as well as helping with specific soreness. When my ankles are swollen or ache, I use these footpads (on my feet as directed) and I can get right to sleep. In the morning, the swelling has gone down and my ankles feel like new. When I remove the pads, I do take a couple minutes each morning to wash off the stickiness from the tape/pads. I am amazed with this product. It seems the rightful placement of the pad on the foot really maximizes the relief. I am still not sure how these pads work. exactly, but I definitely benefit from use.
