Another Tight LP,
By "nova950" (Ground Zero.....NYC!!!!) - See all my reviews

Now there is two....What's the deal with the Slum Village lineup on each LP? Anyway, without Baatin, this LP is still a winner. Standout tracks to me is the one that the kat from KC on the last review said, "Do You" (produced by J.Dilla-the best producer the masses may not know of), "Dirty" with ODB aka Dirt McGirt-doing the hook...good track, Selfish w/Kayne West and John Legend, "The Hours", The Reunion w/ J Dilla, HOT! and there are other joints on there featuring Dwele too! This is a solid LP. T3 sounds much better on this release, you can hear what he is saying, without him slurring like on the last LP, and Elzhi............that kat can SPIT!!!!!! Point blank. He's nice...the beats are tight too. The majority of the production are from Young RJ and BR Gunna. They did a solid job. Get this LP...it's worth it. I read a statment on their website weeks before the LP dropped that Baatin was on LP anyway, but he is not!! Maybe the label changed their mind. Oh well. The trinity is now down to two but thank goodness their sound hasn't dropped too.

HipHopClassic!,

What can i say, this album is a classic from track 1 to the last track on the Cd. The beats are sick. Only difference between this and FAntastic Voyage 2 is that Voyage had more tracks on it. When detroit deli ends it leaves u feening for more. ALBUM OF THE YEAR and that includes lloydbanks and kayne west's album's which are both bangin too. PICK DETROIT DELI as fast as u can, press play , sit back and just listen to the ill-ness, peace.

Well, what can I say about SV. Each album they drop has a different feel to it. With "Fantastic Vol. 2", there were the originals--J-Dilla, Baatin, and T3--and they were still on the underground hip hop tip , with the base-and-sample Jay Dee vibe, which I really miss. "Trinity"--Baatin, T3, and newbie Elzhi-- was on some completely different sh--; it sounded like they were just experimenting with various sounds and beatmaking machines and, basically, like they were zapping the sh-- out of each other with lasers and playin' with lightsabers. "Detroit Deli" is different from the previous two releases but still reflects the SV vibe, though the group has been transformed repeatedly. It's the prototype of what Detroit rap SHOULD sound like. They should diversify their subject matter more but, overall, the album's phat. I love SV, but they need to decide what they're gonna do about membership. Baatin, turban and all, should still be with Elzhi and T3, J-Dilla should do more production and guest spots with them. I'm not gonna reccommend tracks; listen to the samples...or better yet, cop the album, along with Jada and Ghostface, while you're online.
