The Best NBA Year in Review Ever Done For VHS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Detroit Pistons: 88-89 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape shows a number of NBA teams who improved their win totals from the previous year. It shows the New York Knicks success in winning its first division title in nearly a decade, the Phoneix Suns 30+ win improvent, due to the coach of the year Cotton Fitzsimmons, and the improvement of the Clevland Caveliers. Even though those NBA were improving to contenders, there were few teams who were losing players or lost players that season. Larry Bird presence was missed on the court, because of foot injuries, even though the Celtics homecourt dominance was still evident. This video also does a good job in showing how much respect and sympathy most NBA teams show to Kareem Abdul Jabbar's last 20 th season. Last but not least, this video shows playoff coverage of the Pistons, who wanted to get revenge on the LaLakers, who came back from a 3-2 defecit in the 1988 NBA Finals to achieve a repeat in 19 years. However with the injuries to Magic Johnson and Byron Scott, the Pistons took advantage of whatever LA had in a 4-game sweep, im an overmatched Finals series.

A truly brilliant basketball video, covering the 1988-89 Detroit Pistons quest to become NBA champions. The tape features great highlights on and off the court, as well as exclusive interviews and never before seen footage. The Pistons were a great basketball team, often overlooked because of their physical play. All the stars are here - Thomas, Dumars, Johnson, Mahorn, Rodman, Aguirre and Laimbeer. Unfortunately not much of a Finals series, with the Lakers losing Byron Scott and Magic Johnson to injuries during the Finals. However, the Pistons were worthy winners all the same. |
