This is a great book! I thought it was a limited edition, and lamented last February that I'd missed it (late Sept 2012). I ended up getting a copy courtesy of Book Beat in Oak Park, MI. Looks like I'd have saved a bundle by waiting, but I wanted one badly. No complaints about the content, except I wish it could have been longer and had larger photos (but more costly). The collector in me wishes I'd gotten the last copy, though. Grimshaw signed my copy.

When I received this book in the mail I looked through it first, because it is, among other things, a pictorial history, and the images brought me back to my childhood and early teens. So, I had to set the book aside for a while, maybe a couple of weeks. Then I read the book.

This is a powerful story in many ways. It is about a cultural revolution that left us changed forever, and the people who were part of the dynamic energy of those years and who, in their youth and idealism, changed our world and our country for the better, and defended our Fourth Amendment rights from that executive administration, Richard Nixon and his underlings, all the way up to the United States Supreme Court, and they won! So, they preserved our freedom for another generation, and it remains to be seen if we have the heart to continue to defend the rights that they sacrificed so much for.

Spectacularly reminiscent of a time past. The book contains photos, letters, and posters depicting the dawning of social awareness. It was a time of hard partying and loud music, but an oddly innocent era. The book brings it all back to the forefront and gives credit to the people and music that paved the way.

I could not get a copy of the limited edition hardback of 350 copies signed by Gary Grimshaw and Leni Sinclair. But this book will have to fill the void. It is a great, great chronicle of one of the greatest time capsules of Rock and Roll, bar none.

Great book documenting Rock in Motown. Brings back wonderful memories. Great pictures and reminders of those who set the Rock bar.
