Simply great music,
This review is from: Detunized Gravity (Audio CD)
One of the very few albums I can listen to any time day or night. They really hit a nerve without getting on one's nerve. Strange though they've released more: "Godsdog" in 1999 and their recent release "Death by Chocolate". Superb, their combination of 50's, jazz, swing, lounge.Their classy brew sounds spacey as well, so they master the art of attracting various generations. Does that make their music unattractive? Hell, no. Just go buy all their cd's.

Beats, beats and beats (pick your speeds),
By Boon Sheridan "boonerang" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Detunized Gravity (Audio CD)
It is shocking that this album hasn't been released in the states. This album stands out among the crowd of limp, tired albums. The songs on Detunized Gravity a part trip-hop, part drum and bass, part soul and all good. The highlight is the slow burn of "No Jive" that mixes smoky vocals with a crisp cut and paste jazz beat. The album isn't 100% solid ("Lullaby drifts into Deep Forest territory at times) but between the punchy beats of "Lovechild" and the spaced out keyboards of "Free Drift" this is one hell of an album. One can only hope it will get released in the states with some bonus tracks when some record company comes to their senses.

De-Phazz have struck gold..,
By Omar Kanafani (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Detunized Gravity (Bonus CD) (Audio CD)
As my title states, De-Phazz have struck gold with this ingenious album. A cross between electro-jazz, chillout and drum and bass beats, this album is perfect for studying, relaxing, driving, and just generally sets perfectly into any background without any problems. After a few songs, you won't notice the music any more as you drift away into the abyss that is De-Phazz. My personal favourites are No jive and Free Drift.A necessary purchase for any lover of good music with amazing beats and rhythms.
