Simply great music,
This review is from: Detunized Gravity (Audio CD)
One of the very few albums I can listen to any time day or night. They really hit a nerve without getting on one's nerve. Strange though they've released more: "Godsdog" in 1999 and their recent release "Death by Chocolate". Superb, their combination of 50's, jazz, swing, lounge.Their classy brew sounds spacey as well, so they master the art of attracting various generations. Does that make their music unattractive? Hell, no. Just go buy all their cd's.

Beats, beats and beats (pick your speeds),
By Boon Sheridan "boonerang" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews

It is shocking that this album hasn't been released in the states. This album stands out among the crowd of limp, tired albums. The songs on Detunized Gravity a part trip-hop, part drum and bass, part soul and all good. The highlight is the slow burn of "No Jive" that mixes smoky vocals with a crisp cut and paste jazz beat. The album isn't 100% solid ("Lullaby drifts into Deep Forest territory at times) but between the punchy beats of "Lovechild" and the spaced out keyboards of "Free Drift" this is one hell of an album. One can only hope it will get released in the states with some bonus tracks when some record company comes to their senses.

De-Phazz have struck gold..,

As my title states, De-Phazz have struck gold with this ingenious album. A cross between electro-jazz, chillout and drum and bass beats, this album is perfect for studying, relaxing, driving, and just generally sets perfectly into any background without any problems. After a few songs, you won't notice the music any more as you drift away into the abyss that is De-Phazz. My personal favourites are No jive and Free Drift.A necessary purchase for any lover of good music with amazing beats and rhythms.

De-Phazz is like white gold that is hard to find,

I simply do not understand why it is so hard to find albums by De-Phazz. They do have two fantastic albums out there and it seems that their label; Mole is not doing a good job by hiding this stuff. De-Phazz is part of their "Listening Pearls" series. I do highly recomend it - and this album is simply a masterpeace!

the shop asistant who recomended this music was really accurate in descriptin - the music for selected people. She didn't want everyone to know it, simply because it's diamond.

Having seen the "no jive" video , I've been searching for their albums for months and finally found the "detunised gravity" one just a few days ago. The music combines jazz,d&b,some trip hop and a whole lot of other music styles but unlike so many bad attempts that just mix a lot of stuff together , they create a completely unique experience that just flows trough your mind but again, it's not mellow and repetitive stuff that just puts you to sleep .The music "lights you up" in a very new vay - very familiar and original at the same time making you move to the vibes . If only their label did a better job because these guys really deserve to go world wide . True musicians all the way . I fully recomend this not only to people who are into house,d&b etc. but also to everyone who likes good music .

This cd, from the German label Mole Listening Pearls is more than wonderfull ... Together with their other release "Death by Chocolate" one of the best Lounge, D&B, Jazzy, Trip-Hop albums around ... nice as well they include on most songs lyrics ... Very, very nice ... Some Cheese, some Wine, a loved one on your side ... dining, or making love, this music will make you naturally high ... truly magnifique! This album will not only relax you, but will charge your batteries on the same time, making you want to conquer on love and life ... it done it for me! In addition to this album, try Music aand Wine by Blue 6 (Naked Music release). Hope to hear more from them.

Whether you've got people hanging out in your living room or you're listening to your ipod in the park, this album will do the trick. It's got just the right blend of digital tweaks and analog warmth. I have so much electronic music, but there are few albums I listen to over and over again. This one, along with Death by Chocolate (also by De Phazz) still make the cut.

Incredible!,
This review is from: Detunized Gravity (Audio CD)
The album is really incredible! Such combination of trip-hop, drum'n'bass and some other styles (which I even don't know) is a rare event. The music sounds very freshly, easy for ears - it just flows in your mind. What is more important is that De-Phazz makes rather relaxive music than dance one, though you can move your body with this music very well.A must have album if you are tired of all that trash we hear often over the radio or on TV. P.S. Sounds strange, but sometimes I hear sounds in "Detunized Gravity", similiar to Enigma ones... |
