This is a very a good book for starting learn French. However, be aware if you are thinking about buying the Audio and Listening & Comprehension CDs. They cost around U$ 70.00 together, but you can have their contents for free at the book website. Just google "deux monde mcgraw-hill" and hit "I'm feeling luck".

You can listen to (or download) the audio of all lessons, and also do some extra exercises in this website.

This book was poorly organized, and I couldn't seem to figure out why it was organized the way that it was. Directions were often confusing, or not forthcoming, and there were multiple occasions where the definitions in the book weren't correct, as I was able to verify through two French majors, a native French speaker, and several dictionaries. The exercises often have the same issues. Contained a fairly substantial amount of vocab, most of which was correct. Definitely didn't help me learn to communicate about anything of great importance (e.g. booking a hotel room, detailed directions, food, beverages, etc).

It's a text book for my french class, not really sure if I can be objective on mandatory purchases but I'll say it's a nice book, overall pretty easy to use and it's a help for my class.

This book is intended for college students, but it can be used by anyone willing to learn french. It's very easy read, it provides all the vocabulary, verbs and anything else to form a very good sentence or phrase. It also provides readings to also help you learn about the french culture and its a easy read. Joyful to practice with, can even be used with little kids to be taught.

I ordered the book and was expecting it to be a little torn and tattered but it was actually in great condition. A little writing here and there but the writing was actually beneficial to me so I didn't mind it at all. It also shipped super fast!

No problem with condition of item ..would have liked to recieved it a little faster.
