This review is from: The Deva Method: Vocal Warm-Ups and Cool-Downs (Audio CD)
This lady is a leading vocal trainer.
I sing with a group, and have had many of the common problems such as inconsistency in the voice, some days note perfect, other days cracking and straining on the higher notes. The disc itself is very well explained and easy to follow, the first half comprising an explanation and run through of each exercise. The second half being a straight run through the warm up routine. I recommend this cd and her web site where there are useful articles on technique which I have found invaluable. These have enabled me to improve the resonance of my voice and expand my range considerably with almost immediate effect after correcting poor technique, such as tongue and throat tension, overblow, using more force and effort to hit higher notes etc. Beatles songs that were two or three tones above my natural key are now within my range. Wow! The exercises on this cd are consistent with many of the exercises we use warming up for a performance but the full explanation of why we do each exercise really helps, and these warm ups make a considerable difference to the quality of performance. These should be considered warm ups only, and not actually exercises to improve the voice. Every singer should have a warm up routine, and this is it. I hope you find this review helpful.

Impressive Results...,

I'm a professional male rock singer with 20 years experience. I studied with two highly acclaimed vocal instructors while living in Los Angeles a decade ago. I was heartbroken when I melted my customized warm up tape in a hot car, and gave up hope of ever replacing it. I'm really glad I bought this CD!
I started "The Deva Method" while driving to gigs about a month ago and I'm very impressed with the results. I warm up from the start of the CD when my commute is an hour or so, and start at track 14 (exercises) when I have less time to spare. I find the explanations useful and worthwhile every time. My bandmates and I are stunned at the increase in my range and stamina. I've tried other "off the shelf" warm up CDs, but think this one is by far the best.

WARM UP ONLY!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Deva Method: Vocal Warm-Ups and Cool-Downs (Audio CD)
This warm-up has a lot of breaks. It is good for warming up a voice over-time.(30 minutes) But its not good for a QUICK 10 minute warm-up. It's also not steady. The warm-up doesn't FLOW... She does it, then we repeat, thens he talks, and she does it, talks, talks more, and then repeats. This is not for vocal excersise. If you are a male and don't know how to hear your part with a woman's voice. This is not the warm-up for you.

Information Packed Vocal Warm-up,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Deva Method: Vocal Warm-Ups and Cool-Downs (Audio CD)
Jeannie Deva is one of the most knowledgeable voice coaches and these vocal warm-ups are very effective. I have become familiar with many coaches and methods over the years and this is one of the best. This Warm-up CD gives you instructions in the first half and then the second half is only the warm-ups. So once you become familiar with the routine, you can customize it for your own needs. I can do a fast or long warm-up depending upon my need. I highly recommend this CD.

I purchased this product for my mother, a professional singer. She had a performance and needed to vocalize as she hadn't sung in quite a while. She told me afterwards the product did the trick. Without doing the exercises she was doubtful her show would have come off as well as it did. She sounded great and had confidence throughout her performance.

This cd is right on target with everything my voice teacher has been trying to explain. The Deva method breaks down the steps of relaxation and warm up to an easily understood, gentle, and applicable level. I felt a big difference after I used the tape (anyway track 13-22, since the first half gives the instructions) on the way to my voice lesson; my throat was relaxed and warmed up by the time I got there. I was then ready to focus on the music instead of spending so much valuable and expensive time warming up. I sing with a symphony chorus and chamber group and will definitely be using this before each rehearsal and performance. Anyone can use this cd, not just the contemporary pop singer, and as noted, I sing classical music. I highly recommend this cd.

Hello..I'm 27 years old and my band plays 2-3 times a weekend, every weekend. This tape has been awesome in helping me warm up and keep my voice from getting hoarse for all our shows. It has made a huge difference. I use it everyday just to warm up my voice and then I use it before each of my gigs. I would love to buy more from Jeannie Deva...she is the greatest!

Following the exercises does pretty much same to your voice as doing warm-ups with a professional teacher (I'm comparing to my two years with one pretty skillful teacher).
I would though hesitate to recommend this to anybody with no singing experience at all - but for someone who knows the basics about breathing this is good value.

i was not happy with these exercises...i found the exercises limited and didn't hear an "awakened" voice afterwards. unfortunately, the tape i received at a session i had taken previously was destroyed side by side, it just couldn't compare. does not warm up all the multi-facets that make up a voice. dull, disappointing and a loss of my money.
