Obviously, this band has always been misunderstood by many and justifiably so. It really is a hit or miss; Thor is about muscles, singing about Odin, while employing the occasional keyboard and really "narrating" their lyrics rather than singing them. Thor continues to play their bizarre style of classic heavy metal, which sometimes works when the song at hand clicks. They have fun the same way Goddess of Desire does (another weird Metal band) and they are often comparable to Manowar, although this is obviously less sophisticated. This disc is far from being great but you might just understand their world and go along with the ride. Approach with caution.

One of the Best!,

Well, having been a Thor fan since 1983 on and off, I say, this is one of Thor's best to dates. My all time favorite is the mid-80's "Only the Strong," and there have been some hit and misses since then. Last years "Thor Against the World" was a return to greatness, and this one is that much further along. Some of the darkest, heaviest and best music to date, this album smokes. There are some minor criticisms (cheesy cymbal sounds...electric drums? - double vocal style kind of off in places), but overall, in the history of Thor-ness this is one of the best to date! If you understand and enjoy Thor's approach to music, you should truly appreciate this. If you don't, you probably won't. As the other reviewer said, approach with caution...me...I love it!!

One of Thor's Better Newer Releases,

This isn't a bad power metal album, and it's actually one of Thor's better albums musically. The guitar work is solid, the opening tune and the title track reminded me quite a bit of classic Judas Priest. The pounding drums and driving bass power the tunes along and have a great mix, standing out on the album. Thor has a tendency to bury the rhthym section on other albums, but they are showcased here in fine form. Lyrically....well it's still a Thor album. Thor doesn't so much sing as he verbally assaults you with shouted lyrics....but somehow he makes it work. And unlike most modern metal acts, Thor doesn't sound like an angry cookie monster, you can full understand every (sometimes goofy) word.
If you "get" Thor, you'll like this disk. If you are a fan of 80's/90's power metal, you'll enjoy this album as well. If want "serious" metal and think that metal can't be fun, then you most likely won't care for this (or any other) Thor disk.
