Product Description

For all developers who want to leverage the power of Windows Workflow Foundation in their own applications.

Looking for a better way to master today’s rapidly changing programming technologies? Want expert help, but don’t have the time or energy to read a book? Can’t find classroom training worth the money? Discover LiveLessons: self-paced, personal video instruction from the world’s leading technology experts.

  • LiveLessons are three-to-four hour video courses, on DVD with a book supplement, that are organized into bite-sized, self-contained lessons–you’ll learn key skills in as little as fifteen minutes!
  • Each lesson begins with well-defined learning objectives and ends with comprehensive summaries, which help you track your progress.
  • Follow along as your instructor shows how to get results in today’s top development environments.

Windows Workflow Foundation is a complex topic. Much of the development and actions of workflows are completed interactively in Visual Studio Designer and are not easily communicated through the written word.

In twenty quick and easy lessons, .NET expert and trainer Brian Noyes takes you through comprehensive visual training and shows you how to build software that takes full advantage of this revolutionary new product. With Developing Applications with Windows Workflow Foundation, you’ll master workflow concepts, integration, persistence, Web services, exceptions, transactions, events, and more–all at your own pace.

2.0 out of 5 stars DIssatisfied, July 25, 2007
This review is from: Developing Applications with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) (Video Training) (Paperback)
Content is not bad, but the media software is terrible....if you need to stop in the middle of a lesson then you have to start listening all over again!!!! no fast forward, etc. For that money you expect a better media software!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Resolution for poor media, March 26, 2008
This review is from: Developing Applications with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) (Video Training) (Paperback)
I went through several chapter and found the content is excellent enough that you can see in other 5 stars comment.
And what I just want to tell a good news to the people who found the media is poor control. Please change the FLV file to AVI/MPEG use some freeware. Pause/Fast forward/rewind got fine.
Hope this help

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent way to get up to speed on WF, November 30, 2007
By BOO (Roanoke, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Developing Applications with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) (Video Training) (Paperback)
Bryan Noyes is excellent in books and in live presentations, as expected his excellence continues in this particular media.

I've always considered myself a pretty technology saavy person but I have found WF difficult to pick up and roll with; most of this due to just the lack of useful information out there. I mean who outside a first year college student needs to see 'Hello World' examples and the Microsoft webcasts on WF aren't much more than that. Brian goes into enough detail to make this a true 101 course on WF without insulting your intellegence. Best of all, in a video format you don't have to spend pain-staking hours reading code - you can watch him walk through it.

My first critism is that no editing was done on the video. There were few places where there was just dead air and the mouse might move - Brian was obviously looking at his notes; there's no reason they couldn't of edited this out.

My second critism is that there is no navigation in the video - miss something at minute 11? Well, be prepared to sit through 11 minutes again because you have start over, there's no rewind. Need to answer the phone? Again, start over - there's no pause button. To add insult to injury there ARE navigation buttons on the introduction video of the home screen.

Overall - great content and a great 101 experiance (which I hope to see Brian follow up with a 200 level course of the same media), but the QA done on the 'live lessons' media and software was obviously outsourced or someone really needs to clean up there QA department, but in the end, worth every penny.

1.0 out of 5 stars The lessons cannot be forwarded and paused
The video in each lesson cannot be forwarded, start wherever you want or cannot even pause.

This is the worst navigation experience I ever had.
