This book was published in June 2011, but examples and screenshots are from old versions of MonoDevelop and Xcode. Xcode 4 was released in March 2011, and a lot has changed from Xcode 3 used in the book, and Xcode 4 that you are likely to use for development. Also, in the newer versions of MonoDevelop, the project templates used in the book is replaced with others, with different name and function.

The Author and Publisher should have updated the book (possibly delaying it) instead of releasing something that's outdated at the time of publishing.

I returned my copy.

Bryan Costanich is already a well-known .NET engineer and architect who's articles on monotouch taught me quite a bit. I had high hopes for this book, and it didn't disappoint. The first few chapters are a great introduction to using monotouch to develop iOS applications.

The clear instructions and screenshots made it very easy for me.

The in-depth discussions on camera access, database technologies, and iOS specific stuff like using location were amazing (and stuff I have never read elsewhere.) I can't recommend this book enough for anyone building an iOS application.

As a developer interested in writing cross-platform code that does *NOT* use any of the visual crutches such as Interface Builder or Xcode, this book is *PERFECT*. It describes all the user interface elements of iOS perfectly for somebody who has never done an ounce of iOS or Mac programming. Using this book as my main source of reference I was able to start writing an application on January 3, 2012 and have it approved and ready for sale on the Apple App Store on February 3, 2012. I highly recommend this book to any developer trying to write cross-platform code in C#, or even anybody that has a natural aversion to Objectional C.

I was recently tasked with updating and repairing an application written with MonoTouch and I had no previous experience with it. I found everything I needed to know to accomplish the task contained in this book.
