3.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Knowledge
This is a definite college textbook, written in small font. It is packed with curriculm models from the past and semi current models for developing curriculm. It is useful to have to refer to when discussing the history of and various models of curriculm designs.

The language used in this textbook is easy and straightforward. In addition, the textbook can be used as a reference.

Currently, I am preparing my doctoral degree of education in curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix Online. This textbook is required for the course "Curriculum Design."

I wish you all Good Luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Textbook, January 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased a textbook, Developing the Curriculum, for a graduate course. [...] I did not know what to expect when it came to the condition of the textbook. I was thrilled when the book arrived. The book was in perfect condition. My financial aid was cut by several hundred dollars and I was concerned on how to pay for my textbooks. Thank you so much for helping me stay within my budget and still offer quality books.

1.0 out of 5 stars The most BORING textbook ever, July 31, 2010

I always read textbooks for classes cover to cover. I cannot do that with this one...it is just that boring. Hopefully my college will choose a different book for future students.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent textbook on curriculum, June 30, 2010

I read this text during a week and I couldn't put it down. It is thorough and communicate effectively all the aspects dealing with curriculum, starting from educational philosophies, different types of designs, development, and evaluation. More importantly, at the end of each chapter, when necessary, Oliva gives us a series of examples on how to incorporate each stage of curriculum development in a curriculum document. The last chapter is very thorough on contemporary issues and clarifies a lot of recent concepts, alternatives to our public school system. This is a must to understand curriculum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and Easy, January 21, 2010

The whole purchasing process was easy. Book is borderline racist in some chapters. Not focused on higher education at all, and that is the focus of my doctoral program.

4.0 out of 5 stars good content, bad binding, January 3, 2007
The book is very practical for those who are interested in developing the curriculum. It covers all facets about curriculum and many examples. But the edit structure is not very clear, besides, the binding is very lousy. The pages fall off easily.
