Book Description

January 1, 1999
Although the current emphasis on praise and worship has brought a deluge fo worship tapes, as well as books and teachings, very little has been written about developing this ministry within the local church. Finally, here is practical, to-the-point teaching that makes the ministry of praise and worship approachable. Local churches will benefit immensely from these proven ideas and helpful tools. This book offers true help for those endeavoring to 'make His praises glorious' (Psalm 66:2).

Developing an Effective Worhip Ministry offers a solid foundation and practical steps for churches just beginning in praise and worship. For those already moving in a contemporary style of worship this book will help undergird the current program and offer further insights to help move ahead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Foundation on Worship Leading, April 3, 2000
This review is from: Developing an Effective Worship Ministry (Tom Kraeuter on Worship) (Paperback)
If you are looking for an all inclusive detailed book on "How To Be An Effective Worship Leader," this is not it. However, if you are looking for a book to give you a solid foundation on which to build a worship leading ministry, this is an excellent book. He begins with the foundation out of which all ministry flows: Grace. Another stone to the foundation is prayer. Not only do worship leaders need God's guidance for the church service, we should allow the congregation to focus on God in prayer. In doing so, our "music" may decrease in focus, but God will increasingly become the focus. The author also gives guidelines on finding the right personnel for the music team, and explains how to communicate your vision as a worship leader to them and how to work with them. Kraeuter also speaks to the issue of developing a solid song list. One significant issue he addresses is the importance of examing the lyrics. For example, do the lyrics line up with Scripture? Kraeuter also includes tips on worship team rehearsals, platform set up, electronic equipment, and prepation. The final chapter of the book is for Pastors only. This chapter encourages the pastor to be an example as a worshipper to the congregation. If you are beginning as a worship leader or reconstructing your worship ministry, I highly recommend this book.
