Well Written,

This review is from: The Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology, 8th Edition (Paperback)
This was a well-written textbook for medical students. The information was presented in a way that was easy to understand. Sometimes concepts and figures were repeatedly emphasized for certain structures, but I believe that's essential to learning embryology.
Pros: -Easy to read. -Structures are frequently identified to allow you to spatially orient yourself. -End of chapter summaries. -Practice questions in text. -Online student consult animations and more practice material. -The book is available online using the student consult. Cons: -The layout of figures was slightly aggravating because I had to flip through multiple pages at times to view structures that I was reading about, thus it was occasionally time consuming to read. Overall, I really enjoyed this textbook.

It's pretty annoying to have to flip five pages to get a corresponding illustration to the text.

The book I confess was surprisingly small in comparison to his anatomy book, however its very easy reading and very complete, I gave him a star less because the stages before fertilization are to short, they lack of a deeper look.

I really like this book. Embryo is a tough subject to grasp....so abstract at times. This book really helps bring it home in a rather simple way.

Overall I liked the book, but i found it a bit wordy when describing processes of development. I used it for my Embryo class, but I plan on using High Yield as board prep.

terrible online content and assistance,

do yourself a favor and buy this book used. The online student consult is a joke! It took me forever to even access the website because the URL on the book is wrong, I only found it through google. Then I tried to register. That didn't work. I finally found a number for tech support. When I called, not only was tech support very rude, but they informed me that the website does not work with safari and they recommend using firefox or internet explorer (which, by the way, is not stated anywhere on the book). So I finally got it working but the content is really not worth it. Save your money and buy it used... or better yet, use a different book with better online content and better tech support.

This book provides wonderful and fantastic embryologic information and pictures. It explains what happens before and after a sperm enters a mother womb, until becoming a fully developed human being with nice pictures and explanations.. good choice if interested in such a topic
