Book Description

0619215070 978-0619215071 January 26, 2004 1
Designed for those familiar with Visual Basic .NET and working towards the MCSD exam, this text provides users with the ability to create programs which satisfy the demands of today's business environment. Its modular design allows users to focus on several specific database-related topics and covers items such as class modules and object-oriented programming. Each chapter consists of a programming-related problem that the reader could expect to encounter in business, followed by a demonstration of an application that could be used to solve that problem. Using the unique Course Technology methodology, the text reinforces the development process and emphasizes how each phase relates to the others.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Programming Book of the Past Two Centuries, December 26, 2005
This review is from: MCSD/MCAD Guide to Developing and Implementing Windows-Based Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (Paperback)
The previous reviewer, Mr. Chapel, sounds like he was in the same class that I also dropped for the same reason. This book appears to have been tossed together by someone who had an unreasonably short deadline to meet so that the publisher could have something with the right title on the market quickly.

It is absolutely the worst programming/engineering book that I have ever had foisted on me, and I've read or seen thousands. In addition to being disorganized and unclear, it had some obvious errors in it. Even the instructor stated that he could not do one of the problems he gave the class as a homework assignment as shown in the book. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I found alternative sources to learn material in this book, e.g, Deitel, Troelsen, and Otey.

I've seen a number of Thomson software books, and have never been particularly impressed by them. But this book hovers between undecipherable and fraudulent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Very Bad, October 20, 2005
This review is from: MCSD/MCAD Guide to Developing and Implementing Windows-Based Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (Paperback)
This has to be one of worst computer book I have ever tried to work with. It is not well organized, overly complex and confused. I dropped a class after three weeks because the class was based on this book.
