Book Description

January 1997
In simple terms, the Netscape Open Network Environment (ONE) is Netscape's development standards for the current and future releases of Netscape. This book provides a comprehensive reference for Netscape application developers to the Netscape ONE SDK and coverage of all SDK components at a macro (project) and micro (task) view.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Static Web pages are out, and dynamic pages are in. But how do you get from here to there? Developing for Netscape ONE explores the various options that Netscape offers--both on client and server platforms--for building interactive Web applications. Morgan covers JavaScript, LiveWire (JavaScript on the server), Java, the Netscape plug-in application programming interface, distributed objects, and how to tie everything together using LiveConnect. While none of the treatments is exhaustive in itself, together they provide a cohesive overview of the mechanisms available.

From the Publisher

Developing for Netscape ONE is a comprehensive guide to creating applications that conform to the Netscape ONE standards. It provides the reader with an overview of the Netscape ONE SDK with real-life examples of applications developed for Netscape. - Covers scripting and programming, Live Connect, and more

- Shows how to break down SDK into usable chunks and utilize each piece to its advantage

- CD-ROM contains all examples and extra (non-SDK) tools used in the book

3.0 out of 5 stars Really meant for users NOT developers or programmers, May 15, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Developing for Netscape One (Paperback)
This is a typical Que book that attacks the subject from a user's perspective. Anyone that wants to develop or program with Netscape technologies will walk away shaking their head in frustration. To REALLY learn Netscape ONE, get Stanek's Netscape ONE Developer's Guide--now there's a book that REALLY covers developing for Netscape ONE
