Thirty years ago, a group of government and industry leaders, known as the Straton Commission explored solutions for improved ocean stewardship. Now, in a new era of environmental awareness, five individual from the Commission share their thoughts on the group's historical importance an d offer insights for new directions in ocean stewardship. The interviews in this video were conducted during the Stratton Commission Roundtable, held May 1, 1998 in Washington, DC. The rountable is part of a "National Dialougue" on ocean policy to develop options for improved management of U.S., ocean and coastal resources. The National Dialougue process has been organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Center of Marine Policy, and the Ocean Governance Study Group.
