Book Description

October 23, 2002
You will learn here everything you need to know to build Application Engine programs. You start off by learning the design tool and then progressively learn more features and functions of Application Engine programming including new features; such as, PeopleCode and the new File Layout object. You will learn to not only read Application Engine programs but also create them as well; including programs with File input and output capabilities. Tips, Hints and Warnings are given throughout the book to make sure your knowledge is complete. You will also learn how to test and debug Application Engine programs using two-tier, as well as the Internet client.

This book is designed to be used by developers of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Each chapter is written to cover a specific topic so that it can be referenced later. This allows the beginner to build up skills gradually, working from chapter to chapter while the advanced developer can jump right into a specific chapter to find help or get more information on a specific subject.

PeopleSoft is giving more power to the Application Engine program and they now expect you, the developer, to use it. You will need to learn this tool as more and more processes are using Application Engine. You will be called upon to review, modify and create Application Engine programs in the future. Application Engine is not hard to learn if you take it step by step; so start today!

1.0 out of 5 stars No Treasure Here, Stick with PeopleBooks, July 10, 2003

This review is from: Developing with PeopleSoft's Application Engine 8 (Paperback)
I was very disappointed with this book. It does not provide any information that PeopleBooks does not. The presentation was very poor, it was unclear, hard to read and contained no "gems" of information. Whether you are a novice or an expert, I would not recommend spending anything on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good summary, February 15, 2007

I think this book is great. It has a good overview of all the functionality, is easy to read and has some good examples. It's nothing earth shattering, but it's a solid reference.
