Power centres started to be developed in the 1980s; super-community shopping centres containing at least one super anchor store, multiple small stores and only a few small side-space tenants. This study provides an insight into methods to increase returns and avoid costs by understanding the unique aspects of power-centre performance, operations and development practice. It explains what fuelled their meteoric rise in the marketplace, how they were financed, planned, designed and built, their tenant mix and how to maximize returns. The six case studies explain what worked and what didn't in new and re-developed projects of all sizes. Development Examples not Process Oriented,

This book is a well written piece of information centering on past power center development. It is a little outdated currently; however, it does show the pitfalls and highpoints of a large number of quite successful power center development projects. Unfortunately it does not cut much below the surface of these projects and offers little practical advice. Good for understanding past projects in a slightly different time and market. I would not recommend it to anyone searching for a how-to book since it is little more than facts and numbers about past projects and not ideas.
