5.0 out of 5 stars A good starter for international student
This is a very good step-by-step book for international students, who have an intermediate knowledge in English and have time to prepare for the Toefl iBT.

3.0 out of 5 stars not great, not horrible
The companion book is really useful in that it lays out new vocabulary items in each dialog or lecture. However, the accents on many of the recordings are not native. This review is from: Developing Skills for the iBT TOEFL, Intermediate (Combined Audio CD Set) (Audio CD)
The companion book is really useful in that it lays out new vocabulary items in each dialog or lecture. However, the accents on many of the recordings are not native. This isn't really much of a problem, because their accents are clear and sound quite American. The bigger issue is the intonation and speed of speaking. Sometimes, lecture content that might be alright is rendered incomprehensible by unnaturally long [and misplaced!] pauses or distorted intonation. If I, as a native English teacher, have trouble following a couple of the lectures, how could I expect an intermediate TOEFL student to do better? So I skip those lectures and use the better ones on the disc. But honestly, some of the content doesn't feel as up to snuff as, say, Barron's, Cambridge or Delta's TOEFL prep.
