Book Description

November 2003 1584502525 978-1584502524 1
The new Tablet PC combines the latest incarnation of previous notebook computing technologies (i.e., digital ink and voice commands) with the power and reliability of Windows® XP, possibly making it the most versatile PC ever. Developing Tablet PC Applications teaches programmers how to create applications for this exciting new platform using the SDK developed for it. It begins by explaining how to install and use the SDK, and then delves into the creation of several specific applications, such as a drawing program, an MP3 player, and a signature recognition program. It also covers game-related topics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Developing for XP, December 9, 2003
By
This review is from: Developing Tablet PC Applications (Charles River Media Programming) (Paperback)
I guess I was expecting something dedicated to the Tablet PC like Jarrett & Su's "Building Tablet PC Appl." -- just more in-depth, since this book was so much delayed. What I seem to have is an intermediate level book on Programming for XP, with some chapters on programming for the Tablet PC. It does cover a number of interesting topics specific to more recent Windows platforms. And the writing style seems to be easy to read through.

5.0 out of 5 stars For programmers seeking to create their own applications, January 12, 2004
This review is from: Developing Tablet PC Applications (Charles River Media Programming) (Paperback)
Developing Tablet PC Applications by computer expert and professional Clayton E. Crooks is a self-teaching tool for specifically for programmers seeking to create their own applications for the exciting new Tablet PC. This is a new development which blends the usefulness of notebook computing technologies with the raw power of Windows XP. Sample code and source projects (both in the text and on an included CD-ROM), illustrate this instructive text which is replete with examples that anyone can use to build upon. Developing Tablet PC Applications is a very worthwhile addition to any Tablet PC programmer's personal or professional reference library.
