Shame on Oxford University Press,

If you are a student or EFL / ESL teacher on a low budget, don't buy this book. Why?
Because the CD at the back of the book only contains HALF of the audio for the listening activities. In order to LISTEN to all the listening activities you HAVE TO buy the teachers book. So if you are a student and you go to the "listening" section of a book shop and want to buy a course book with an audio CD at the back, DON"T BUY THIS BOOK. If, like me, you purchase this book, you will be sorely disappointed when you get home and find only HALF the audio material. Then you have to trawl through the fine print and find the deceptive statement describing the CD included with the book as 'A STUDENT CD FOR PRACTICE OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM'. The front cover displays a prominent CD motif with the words "STUDENT CD INCLUDED". This is misleading! Furthermore, there is no mention of this book ever having been trialed on any students prior to publication. What a deceptive and sad way to make money! |
