If your a student and your class requires you to get the 5th edition of this book, don't get the 5th ed. You will be fine with this edition. It is is pretty much the same thing. The chapters talk about the same thing, same pictures, and exact same words. The only difference i found was that they pretty much cut and pasted the sections within the chapter and put it in a different order, so page number is a little different. But all the sections are in the same chapter. Get this edition if your on a budget. Its the same book different cover. I mean $20 vs. $110?

The Most Well-Written Textbook I Have Ever Read, 5 STARS!,

This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (3rd Edition) (Hardcover)
This author, Robert S. Feldman, is a genius. He has finally found a way to write an interesting textbook! This textbook has something for every type of learner. There are plenty of colorful illustrations and pictures for the visual learner. He includes many stories to provide examples on the topics discussed in the book, for people who need reference to some real-life examples. Also, the book is easily readable and not boring, for people who tend to fall asleep while reading books. This book covers the processes we all go through from birth to death, so it easily relates to your own life and helps explain some things you probably never understood about yourself. I would recommend it even outside of college... it is just so interesting. There are a total of 19 chapters as listed below: 1. An Introduction to Lifespan Development I thought the beginning chapters about children were particularly interesting. I would highly recommend this book to any parent, anyone about to become a parent, or anyone thinking about becoming a parent. The author talks about a lot of issues relating to learning and social development... something very important in life. Also, this is a new textbook published just this year so you are sure to get up-to-date information.

I used this book in our Life Development Psychology. In the course of my study, everything I needed to know is in the book. Feldman is very thorough and organized. I have read other books on this subject in our library but by far this is a superior book. This book deserves 5 stars.

Unsatisfied Customer,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
Received my book but it did not come with an access key that it was suppose to come with. I purchased My developmental Lab series which is suppose to come with an access key for the online assignments. Now I will be forced to purchase a key separately. I could have purchased this book from my local bookstore and not had the issues I have at this late date. One of many issues ordering this book from Amazon. It is impossible to get in touch with anyone regarding your order. I am totally unsatisfied with my purchasing experience with Amazon!

Does NOT MATCH DESCRIPTION!,

This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (5th Edition) (Hardcover)
I'm in graduate school and needed this book with the Development Lab access code for my online course. Despite being advertised "MyDevelopmentLab Series", it did NOT include the access code. I attempted to go to the publisher's website to see if I could purchase the code, but they were "sold out"- funny, because it's a CODE and not a tangible item. You'd think they would just generate a code so that I could access the online features. So, I was behind in my class for about a month while I waited to receive my textbook, realized it wasn't what I needed, attempted to find another textbook, and sent this one back to Amazon. I'm still awaiting delivery confirmation so I can get my money back. The publisher and distributors of this book need to know that I was not the only one in my class who experienced this kind of problem- you've made using this textbook a real pain in the...

PLEASE READ REVIEW BEFORE PURCHASE!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
Please, please make sure that you talk to your instructor before purchasing this book to see if you need an access key with the book. This book DOES NOT automatically come with the access key. The access key is a code that you enter online to gain online access to all of the additional resources that the class has to offer, which is called the Development Lab. My professor did not use the Development Lab in her lectures so this book was perfect for me! However, if you need the key, it is probably going to be cheaper to purchase it all together, as a set. Otherwise, I did see where Amazon was selling the access key for $40, which was still cheaper than what my school was selling it for. I read the other reviews prior to purchasing this book and it seems as though this is where people were the most frustrated with purchasing this book. So, make sure you talk to your professor first! This truly is an awesome text! Very well written, easy to follow!

Book required for College Course,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
This book is the required textbook for an online lifespan Psychology class I am taking at my local community college. The book is hard to read to me and if it was not required for my class I probably would not buy it. Most college textbooks are not easy to read and its not like you get a choice on the textbook for the course. This book was cheaper brand new from Amazon than the used price available at the colleges bookstore and a local independent college book store. I am very satisfied with the price and it shipped very quickly

This is the required textbook for my developmental psychology class. Amazon was much cheaped than the school book store. It came three days sooner than I was told it would.
I have only read one chapter so far but I like how each chapter has a prologue and a review of the important information. It has the key words and definitions in bold print throughout the chapter and in the margins. This makes them easier to find. The only drawback is next year they are using a newer edition so I can not sell it to someone who might need it.

Thanks to J. Rodriguez' review, I bought this edition of the textbook for pocket change, instead of spending upwards of $80 or more for the fifth (latest) edition. Just like he said, this edition is the same as the newer edition, with the exception of a few paragraphs moved around here and there. If you need the latest edition, you may want to double check, and go with this one. It saved me lots of money! Thanks J. Rodriguez :D

Comprehensive Overview,

This review is from: Development Across the Life Span (5th Edition) (Hardcover)
A thoroughly researched work that is current with modern trends. Although a Christian health worker might be disappointed with its occasional evolutionary/humanistic undertone, the book nonetheless paints a clear and organized picture of all the levels of life span.
